Although this article is quite short, it is still confusing since the concept of district in PRC is different of that in ROC. For reducing confusion and maintaining consistency, I propose for splitting this article into three. One is about ancient China and in general form (may be named District (China)), another is about PRC (may be named District (PRC)), and one is about ROC (may be named District (ROC)).

The districts in ROC and PRC are highly relevant. It's good to maintain a main page for
District (China) to introduce the general information. I have added
District (ROC) and
District (PRC) as the main articles for the relevant sections in
District (China). Hope this is fine for us. --

Historical sense
Note that this is entirely incorrect. The current article on
Government of the Han dynasty discusses districts as subdivisions of the counties and is translating an entirely different term. —
