Questionable reference

From a local, I think it would be incorrect to refer to Baldwyn as being "due north of Tupelo on Highway 370", as that highway comes nowhere near Tupelo, and generally has an east/west orientation. A more accurate description would be either "due north of Tupelo on Highway 145" (the old two-lane highway that connects the two) or "due north of Tupelo on Highway 45" (the newer four-lane highway that roughly parallels the old highway in that area, connects a large number of cities and towns on the eastern side of Mississippi, and has become the preferred route between the two cities for most motorists).

Highway 145 also has clearer historical reference, as it was the fastest route to the Tupelo metro for many years, and an older, abandoned section of the original highway was, I'm told, the first concrete road south of the Mason-Dixon line. (Admittedly, citation sources such as http://www.mississippidar.org/historical_markers.html don't confirm that this was the same road, and it possibly was only declared a highway upon the completion of Highway 145.) 75.66.145.31 ( talk) 12:10, 31 October 2010 (UTC) reply
