This page should not be speedy deleted because...

This page should not be speedily deleted because it is a new, useful article on an important element of Canadian history. I, myself recommended "Abortion caravan" (with no capital in the second word) for deletion because of a mis-capitalization, but this article is a well-researched, well-supported article that identifies an important historical event in Canada. In the last paragraph, the article makes claims about the movement inspiring at least one person with no statement whatsoever about who made that claim other than the movement itself, and no third-party references either. Therefore the article is pure promotion, advocating either a cause or a movement, but either way it's unacceptable. -- Blanchardb - MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 19:30, 13 April 2012 (UTC) reply

I am a professor in the field, and the rest of the article is legitimate, and substantiated. I agree with you about the last paragraph, and I will edit it right away. Would you agree that that would work? Arc1234 ( talk) 19:38, 13 April 2012 (UTC) reply

Probably. In fact, by the time I saw your response, I had already deleted that paragraph altogether and declined my own speedy tag. I don't think an opinion is encyclopedic anyway, unless you state within the text who states that opinion, and you verify that the opinion reflects the general consensus in society at large. -- Blanchardb - MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 19:40, 13 April 2012 (UTC) reply

I'm not sure why it is still disputed though - this was an even in Canadian history that is well documented and verifiable. What is the concern about neutrality? The writing style? Arc1234 ( talk) 19:43, 13 April 2012 (UTC) reply

Yes. It's too poetic for an encyclopedia, with too much detail that most people wouldn't care about. Frankly, who cares about the brand of each individual automobile used by the movement? Everything in the article should go straight to the point. There are references people might consult if they want to know that there was an Oldsmobile but no Cadillac in the convoy. -- Blanchardb - MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 20:04, 13 April 2012 (UTC) reply

The detail does not mean that the article isn't neutral. I will work on the language, but the article is still an objective description of an important historical event. Arc1234 ( talk) 21:40, 13 April 2012 (UTC) reply

There's nothing wrong with providing some detail and I don't see anything here that is too "poetic". I'm removing the tag since there doesn't seem to be an argument concerning neutrality. Gobōnobo + c 17:58, 4 June 2012 (UTC) reply

I'm guessing this is a new article about an historic event that happens to coincide with 'The New Abortion Caravan' which is a news story in Canada at present. It's a current news story and probably shouldn't even be here until the dust settles. It's far from neutral anyhow. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.244.66.207 ( talk) 05:53, 3 June 2012 (UTC) reply
