I think this is a case when 'official translations' needs to be adjusted. The name as it stands now becomes highly awkward in English. An alternative would be 'Left Coalition of Movements and Ecology', or even better just 'Synaspismos' (with explanation of full name in the article heading). --

Personally, I'd go for "Synaspismos", as that is the name usually used in Greece. The word translates to "Coalition", but that would be a bit awkward for WP. --

Note that in the link above, the party refers to itself as Synaspismos in English, with the full translation in brackets. --

Yes, go for it. It would make a hell of a lot of sense. English-speakers in Greece refer to it as Synaspismos, so too does the
Athens News.--

The party was a part of Syriza coalition, which in 2012 transformed into a single party with Tsipras as a leader. Did Synaspismos cease to exist at that point, or is it still an existing party?

Far left
As this party is essentially a successor to a Communist party, surely it is far left rather than left wing?

Eh, no. Synaspimos was a very moderate force for most of its existence, not more radical than PASOK. --

i doubt it since overwise they hadn't a reason to coexist

Support: English-language expert literature almost always uses the short name Synaspismos and rarely the translated long form Coalition of (the) Left, of Movements and Ecology (ca. 11 google books hits for the latter vs. far more than 50 for the former). --

People and media tend to use short names. Examples are many. In Greece for example
PASOK and
DIMAR are way more common than parties' full names. The problem here is that this is an encyclopedia and not a magazine nor a book so I think we should use the full name. Moreover, the full title marks the change of the name of the party some years ago when they switched for Coalition of Left and also marks the difference between this party and Synaspismos, the party coalition where KKE participated. Comment: The title of
ANTARSYA needs more attention since there is inconsistency between the title (Front of the Greek Anticapitalist Left) and the leading text (Anticapitalist Left Cooperation for the Overthrow ). --
