I took a stab at rewriting the article's introductory paragraph. Please add, subtract, mulitply, or divide if needed! Foreignshore ( talk) 18:59, 11 March 2014 (UTC)Foreignshore
An IP has repeatedly removed the description of Blofeld's apparent death in Diamonds Are Forever: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] & [6]. These edits have been reverted several times now. TedEdwards has asked the IP at his talk page why he keeps removing this information, but did not get a response. As I point out in this edit summary the extra information is relevant because i) the fate of the character is ambiguous in Diamonds Are Forever and ii) the character briefly reappears in For Your Eyes Only. It is very difficult to resolve this when the anonymous editor fails to give a rationale in edit summaries and fails to respond to a simple question on their talk page. The constant back-and-forth can't go on and the matter needs to be resolved here. If the anonymous editor does not provide us with a reason as to why the article is better served with less information then I will request page protection. I was thinking, instead of being a redirect to this page, what do we think aout making Mr. White (James Bond) a short article? The character has appeared in three different Eon films. ZarhanFastfire ( talk) 05:21, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
Now that we've got the new 007 novel announced, should we put a placeholder table until the book comes out? 2407:7000:8DB6:3557:5CDF:7FE0:4DE3:8571 ( talk) 03:34, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Safin has not appeared in many movies, but we have given movie villains pages if they’ve appeared in one movie. They don’t have to be major villains like Blofeld to deserve a page. He’s good Chickenmonger ( talk) 16:11, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
I think we need to add the a new section dedicated for the villains from the comics. Namely the ones from the Jim Lawrence & Yaroslav Horak-era comic strips and the Dynamite Entertainment comic serials. The entry mentions that "Before adding any more characters to this article, please go to the talk page and explain why a particular character is a villain" - so I just need to reach concencus before I or any other wikipedian here starts to get busy. General G's fate in the novels section under From Russia With Love confirms he was dashed by boat propellers.
Its been a few months since I read the novels but I'm pretty sure he survives the events of the book, especially since he turns up in With a Mind to Kill.
I'm assuming this is some sort of error so should be amended but I just want to double check that I'm not missing something and Horowitz is just ignoring established canon, which would be odd. SpruceWillis10 ( talk) 13:56, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
Have added a section for Charlie Higson's novel On His Majesty's Secret Service. I have yet to read the novel so do not know the exact details of Æthelstan of Wessex's plan and whether he survives the events of the book or not so if anyone else wishes to add these details please do so, otherwise I'll add the details myself once I get to the book. There's only been one novel released "Double or Nothing" of an expected trilogy but should Kim Sherwood's Double O series be featured in this article somewhere, perhaps under a new heading like the "Young Bond" section. My thoughts are yes but interested to reach consensus first. SpruceWillis10 ( talk) 12:15, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
Some editors have been removing characters on the grounds that they are "henchmen", not "villains". This is an irrelevant distinction for the purposes of this article. For example, "Red Grant" is a significant adversary in the novel "From Russia With Love", I would say a more significant character than Rosa Klebb. It is not important for the purposes of this article that Grant is following orders from Klebb. Otherwise we get absurdities like including "General Grubozaboyschikov", an insignificant character who gives the orders, and not including Grant.
The purported technical distinction between villains and henchmen is not relevant for this article. Wikipedia is aimed at the general reader, for whom Grant is a villain. This is backed up by the article lede, which currently says "The following is a list of primary antagonists in the James Bond novels and film series." Editors should use their judgment. For example, should Oddjob be included? I would say yes, he is a primary antagonist (second to Goldfinger). I think "Jaws" should definitely be included. cagliost ( talk) 11:13, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
