I wondered why Interstate 66 is not considered the shortest interstate that connects two states. Is it because Washington, D.C. is not a "state," per se? Regardless, it does cross a state line. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 05:16, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
I didn't remove it, but this text seems a little outside NPOV:
The paragraph is a statement of opinion, not a statement of fact. Many Interstate highway pages have this problem, though many address the issue by prefixing such a comment with a phrase like "Some highway mavens would like to see..."
I may post this issue at the Village Pump at some point in the future. Any strong opinions, please post here or on my talk page. -- Robertb-dc 21:41, 21 Jan 2004 (UTC)

So is there an "official" way to count lanes? I.E., "I-30 from I-635 to Rockwall was widened from 6 to 10 lanes in the 1990s." What consistutes a "lane?" To me, 10 lanes means there are 5 lanes going one direction (on the actual freeway), and 5 lanes going the other direction. I have lived in Rowlett, Texas since 2005, which is right before Rockwall (and I frequently make trips into Rockwall), and nowhere along I-30 between 635 and Rockwall has there ever been 5 lanes going in either direction in the last 9 years. At best, there are 8 lanes (4 in either direction). I can't speak to how it was in the 90s, so I can't say about the 6 lanes that statement claims were once there, but until someone refutes and explains how that could be considered a 10-lane highway, I am modifying the 10 to an 8. (You can bring up Google Maps street view to validate what I am saying). P shadoh ( talk) 17:10, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Since this article doesn't meet the exit list criteria, I'm suggesting that the article be split (not a total split) into Interstate 30 in Texas and Interstate 30 in Arkansas. Also, I recommend that the normal junction table be remodeled into a JCT table, since the highway is a freeway. HeatIsCool ( talk) 22:27, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Given that this is a shorter, bi-state 2dI, the additional junctions are perfectly acceptable. There aren't going to be state-based sub articles, so this is also more like single-state sub articles as well. I'd suggest comparisons with other bi-state or intrastate 2dI articles like Interstate 43 or Interstate 96 than long-distance 2dIs like Interstate 20 or Interstate 30. The only true limit on junctions in an infobox comes from WP:USRD/STDS where we limit to 8–10 junctions, so for those longer highways, yes, we do limit to 2dIs, but for shorter examples, other junctions are acceptable. There was also a Business Loop I-30 at Little Rock, Arkansas but I need to check my files to find the dates. US 71 ( talk) 02:15, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
