I deleted the comment that the 座 in 星座 is a classifier for large, immovable objects. While it is true that 座 is a classifier, that likely has nothing to do with the reason for its usage in the word 星座. The origin of the word 星座 is unclear; it may date back to a commentary on the 史記 by 司馬貞, but the modern word may have developed independently and coincidentally of that. Unless well-documented support for the origin of the modern word 星座 can be provided, the "classifier" comment should remain deleted.
