It was added
here and they are still aactive so you might check with them. I also noticed
this (you may need to turn the syllabics on), number 4 on the list. That of course lead to
Utkuhiksalik dialect, so it was used in syllabic areas as well, but as a slightly different food.

Based on the articles, it does seem like Akutaq is a type of
Indian ice cream (Alaska), and should be merged into that article. The combined article might require a rename, as this dish is also found in Canada. (Tricky...) I will notify
Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America of this discussion to see if anyone there has insight and/or wants to weigh in.

Many (most?) varieties are not called Akutaq, though; is there evidence that Akutaq is the
WP:COMMONNAME for this product overall in all its varieties? (The parenthetical qualifier "Alaksa" on the existing name, which may need to be changed, distinguishes it from the soapberry-based food called "
Indian ice cream (Canada)".)
