→History of the term "Bioregion": i wrote a nice little sentence on Newkirks first use of the term bioregion. Just got this great little gem The Professional Geographers Journal from 1985, that has a great segment on the origins of the term. Also, that Newkirk was a Canadian poet and biogeographer.Tag: Visual edit

OK. All copy/pasted content should be removed. I've done at least a couple initial passes. Very sorry about using copyrighted quotes. I wasn't aware of Wikipedia's policy until Mar 26, which is my fault - but I have tried to make sure everything should be above board, well cited and in the clear. If other errors are pointed out, I'll keep cleaning things up. Thank you!Tag: Visual edit

Bioregionalism
Hi all. I've been writing and flushing out a lot of this in the "Bioregion" Wikipedia article, but as I've been going, I'm realizing that a lot of this is much more focused on bioregionalism, as the ethic and movement, so I'm pulling it over here because I think it fits better. Everything should be cited pretty solidly, and it focuses on the early history of Bioregionalism - Peter Berg, Planet Drum, Donella Meadows, Congresses, Bookchin, Dasmann et al.Tags: citing a

→History of the term "Bioregion": updated a few things, mainly the timeline of when bioregion came about was off a bit. Provided links to early bundles showing that Van Newkirk developed the term back in 1971, it was in use by the time Planet Drum was founded, and shared links to pictures of the first bundle in 1973 using the term. Also updated the bioregion quote from the planet drum page.Tag: Visual edit

→History of the term "Bioregion": added a great little piece from a nice source I found that helped clarify and specify Allen Van Newkirks writing about bioregions, and his relationship with peter berg, and raymond dasmannn! - new source is Douglas Aberley's Bioregionalism: A story from many voices, and gives a great overview of the early bioregional movement. Tons of stuff, and well researched and cited. Included a link to the PDFTag: Visual edit

Moved last paragraph from the introduction section into the bioregionalism section, as I think it flows nicer in the section where people are talking specifically about this type of definition.Tag: Visual edit
