@ IM-yb: The colors in most cases are the official colors of the teams, so they do give vital information. Can you explain what part of COLOR is being violated? Baseball free agent color problem

Since the move to Module:Sports color, Template:Infobox baseball biography uses white text on a light gray background for the team name and stats section headers when the team is listed as "Free agent" or no team is specified. The fix may be as simple as adding "Free agent" to the module with a black secondary font, but I suspect it is more complicated. Can someone fix it? Change the colors of the Kansas City Tornadoes of The Basketball League. After their inaugural season, the NAPB changed its branding to The Basketball League (TBL). Concurrently, the Tornados also rebranded as the grammatically correct "Tornadoes" and updated the colors to blue, red and white.


Please add San Diego Waves they are an expansion team for the 2019 The Basketball League season their colors are Aqua, orange, white.

Please add Raleigh Firebirds, they are an expansion team for the 2019 The Basketball League season their colors are Red, yellow, black, white.

Please add Tampa Bay Titans, they are an expansion team for the 2019 The Basketball League season their colors are gold and black.

  • I favor the use of top and bottom borders in team colors rather than background and fonts, similar to the style used by hockey team articles and lists. For example, the headers of the two lists you mentioned might look like these:

Such a style (where white is used as a background color) would make the sort arrows clearly visible. The use of black text keeps headers from looking like links. I know it's subjective, but I think this style looks cleaner than the way many baseball tables (team navboxes especially) combine background, text, and borders. They're too busy and occasionally difficult for one with decent eyesight to make out. I've applied these colors to a few minor league team articles, but have held back on MLB teams, not wanting to rock the boat. NatureBoyMD ( talk) 13:42, 24 October 2020 (UTC) reply
I was part of the consensus to make this change for ice hockey tables, navboxes, and the like, and have advocated for its adoption for baseball-related articles, on the baseball WikiProject discussion page. Above examples are definitely an improvement, thanks, though I'm confused as to where this leaves the templates if you're hardcoding the RGB hex triplets (not that I'm invested in the templates, my main concern is making the tables clear and legible, whether colour is applied or not and whether templates are used or not). -- Jameboy ( talk) 17:04, 29 October 2020 (UTC) reply
If Template:Baseball primary color and Template:Baseball secondary color were modified from applying a background style to only inserting the hex from this module, it could be inserted into the above examples in place of the hardcoded hexes. And it was literally in the middle of a doubleheader, as they announced the new name and logo between the first and second games, debuting the new uniforms for the second game. Toronto Blue Jays, not Red Jays

Once again, @ Charlesaaronthompson: has changed the Toronto Blue Jays colors at Module:Sports color/baseball - using spurious references that mention the return of the red maple leaf (10 years ago!) as evidence that red is a "primary" color - have mucked up the template. Red is a minor accent color on the team's uniforms, logo and artwork, yet this edit makes red the dominant color on all Toronto Blue Jays articles that use this template. The edit also makes results in black (or dark blue?) text on a red background, which appears to contravene MOS:COLORS for legibility and accessibility. This constant habit of blindly updating colors without care or consideration is a nuisance, and greater oversight on this user's edits would be a stellar idea. @ Echoedmyron and Paine Ellsworth: FWIW, I only changed the color codes for the Toronto Blue Jays because I wanted to show that the club's colors included a color other than differing shades of blue. That's what I was trying to accomplish by including red in the color code formatting over at Module:Sports color/baseball. The only reason why I used black text color code formatting on a red background color for the 3rd & 4th colors was to ensure that the color codes were WP:CONTRAST compliant. I know that the team's name is the Toronto Blue Jays, but historically, the club has used red as a color, and when they rebranded in November 2011, they brought back the red color. I only wanted to reflect that over at Module:Sports color/baseball. The other reason why I wanted to include red instead of navy blue was because I hoped to provide contrasting colors other than differing shades of blue. I'm sorry. @ Echoedmyron and Paine Ellsworth: Would either one of you object if I were to change the wiki-code formatting in the |basestyle= for the Toronto Blue Jays over at Module:Sports color/baseball from  navy blue  to  white ? Near as I can tell, the Blue Jays don't really use navy blue as a color in their uniform design. It's apparent that the Blue Jays only use navy blue as a bottom color in the bird head logo. My source for these claims is per BlueJays.com & MLBShop.com. The reason why I'm asking is so that there is sufficient enough WP:CONTRAST between the |titlestyle= & the |basestyle=. I'd love to hear thoughts from either one of you (or both) on this topic. Otherwise, I'll respect the established WP:CONSENSUS and wait until I receive a reply. @ Charlesaaronthompson: You raise a fair point, that of the official colors, only royal blue has prominent use, and the remainder - navy, red, white in no particular order - are all used as accents in various places. I happen to like the two-tone blue as it appears. It mimics the top and bottom colors in the bird logo. FWIW, the dark blue is more prevalent than the lighter shade. I was referring to the use of dark blue in File:Toronto_Blue_Jays_logo.svg—it looks like there is more dark than light. As to blue on white text, hyperlinks are traditionally blue. @ NatureBoyMD: OK, I see your point. The club does use the double blue (royal blue & navy blue) blue jay bird head as its primary logo, so the club's primary colors should reflect the logo. Red is only included as the color of the maple leaf to signify that the Blue Jays are Canada's only MLB team. My source for this information is the club's 2021 media guide, which is found at MLBStatic.com. An additional source is found at BlueJays.com Since you're opposed to any changes, I'll respect the clearly established WP:CONSENSUS and leave the Toronto Blue Jays color code formatting at Module:Sports color/baseball as is. @ NatureBoyMD How confident are you that navy blue is the correct secondary color for the Toronto Blue Jays? I question this, per MLB's Facebook page regarding the 2022 power rankings, which shows that the secondary color for the Blue Jays is indeed red. The source for my claim is per Facebook.com/MLB. To prove that it's not WP:OR, if you look at the team logos on the right, and then the team names in the backgrounds to the immediate left of the team logos, you'll notice that red is the background with "Toronto Blue Jays" in white text to the left of the Blue Jays' logo on a royal blue background. However, if you are able to find another source from MLB.com that I haven't already linked to that spells out what the Blue Jays' colors in order are, then I will stand down and accept it. Respectfully, that power rankings table (I don't think you can use a social media graphic to support any claim here, but could be mistaken) says no such thing. It's an artistic consideration, nothing more. I note that same graphic uses a pale blue for the Chicago White Sox in the table, and the White Sox haven't worn pale blue for over 50 years - and it's not in their team logo either. (The Yankees don't use pale blue either of course.) Are you going to change other entries in the module accordingly? More to the point, let's say that in the team logo red is the second-most present color; it's maybe what, 10 to 20% of the logo? Every time you update the team color module with red in it, it becomes 80-90% of the colors as employed on wikipedia. Which could be an issue with wikipedia's color module system, but a responsible editor doesn't blindly make changes without considering the impact of those changes. @ Charlesaaronthompson: Like Echoedmyron said, if red is actually considered the secondary color by the team itself, making it the secondary color in the module makes it appear more promiently than it does on, say, the team's website ( [1]) or in their 2021 media guide ( [2]). Obviously, a responsible template editor doesn't blindly make changes without engaging in a discussion to reach a WP:CONSENSUS with other interested editors first, and said editor also doesn't blindly make changes without considering the impact of these changes. With that said, now that we've ruled out using  red  as the Toronto Blue Jays' secondary color, would either one of you still object if the wiki-code color formatting for the Blue Jays over at Module:Sports color/baseball looked like this: " royal blue ,  white ,  white ,  royal blue "? @ NatureBoyMD and Echoedmyron: Actually, the more I think about it, the more I've come to realize that in all actuality, the primary colors for the Toronto Blue Jays are the double  royal blue  &  navy blue . I mean, it actually reflects what the Blue Jays use as their colors to use the double blue colors over at Module:Sports color/baseball. If you look at the MLB Batterman logo on the back of the Blue Jays' primary cap, you'll notice that the colors are royal blue on the left w/the ball & navy blue on the right. My source for this claim is per MLBShop.com. I'm sorry for all this. I'm going to revert back the Blue Jays' colors back to where they were & should be at. The shade of orange used in this module doesn't accurately reflect the shade used by the team. As noted in the infobox at the team article, #ed9e21 is the correct shade, not FF6202. I can't speak on what would be the most appropriate change to make, I just want it brought to attention that the contrast level between colors three and four is so low as to make text unreadable when the color set is used, say, in infoboxes. TSG Hawks has a 4/3 contrast ratio of 1.31, which is the lowest of any team using four colors at Module:Sports color/baseball.
Now that I’m looking at the source code, color three for TSG Hawks is #000000, while color four is #01271C. Perhaps one of these needs to be changed to #FFFFFF. – RedSoxFan274 (talk ~contribs) 21:38, 26 July 2023 (UTC) reply

Adding a spot for the 1968-1971 Washington Senators color scheme under Sports color/baseball

I'm not sure how this should be done, as the color scheme for the Washington Senators 1901-1960 team (ancestor to Minnesota Twins) was identical for the Washington Senators 1961-1971 team (ancestor to Texas Rangers), except for the years of 1968-1971, where the primary color became red, rather than blue. I see the way the module lists the teams and their colors, and the Texas Rangers doesn't have a previous color labeled as Washington Senators.

Unless of course there's an added line for the 1961-1967 color scheme: ["Washington Senators 1961thru1967"] = {"002B5C", "FFFFFF", "CE1141", "FFFFFF"}, , while keeping the original "Washington Senators" unchanged for the 1901-1960 team.

Diff: Add the following under the Texas Rangers: ["Washington Senators 1968thru1971"] = {"C8102E", "FFFFFF", "0C2340", "FFFFFF"},

Maybe add the following under the Texas Rangers: ["Washington Senators 1961thru1967"] = {"002B5C", "FFFFFF", "CE1141", "FFFFFF"},

Hello all, I have several requests here from Caribbean winter baseball leagues that I'd appreciate it we could add. Firstly, the following teams from the Colombian league:
