Meghna Bank PLC is a renowned fourth-generation bank headquartered in Gulshan, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Established on May 9, 2013, [2] by entrepreneur and politician H.N. Ashequr Rahman, the bank has been in operation for a decade. [3]
Meghna Bank Ltd. (MGBL) is a scheduled commercial bank established as a public limited company in Bangladesh in March 2013. It officially commenced banking operations on May 9, 2013, holding a license from Bangladesh Bank.
The bank currently operates 51 branches, 10 Islamic banking windows, 18 agents, [4] and 18 own ATM booths strategically located across the country, with free access to 12,000 ATM booths nationwide.
In February 2020, Meghna Bank obtained permission to operate an Islamic Banking Unit, and in October 2020, it established an Off-shore Banking Unit (OBU) for foreign currency services. [5] [6] The bank also has subsidiary investments in Meghna Bank Securities Limited. [7]
H. N. Ashequr Rahman is a prominent figure in Bangladeshi business, politics, and academia. Born on December 11, 1941, [8] he pursued his academic journey at Rajshahi University. Later in 1972, he played a vital role as the Administrator of Dhaka Municipality. Beyond his career, Mr. Rahman is a successful businessman, co-founded East West University [9] and is the founder and chairman of Meghna Bank Limited Mr. Rahman has had a noteworthy political career, serving in multiple parliamentary sessions, including as State Minister for Environment and Forests, and as Treasurer of the Awami League since 1993.

The Board of Directors of Meghna Bank PLC appointed Mr. Kimiwa Saddat as Managing Director (CC) [11] in its 166th meeting held on January 28, 2024, with effect from February 11, 2024, until further advice.
Mr. Kimiwa Saddat joined Meghna Bank PLC on March 25, 2019, and was promoted to Deputy Managing Director in May 2023. Under his leadership, Meghna Bank Corporate Banking is being recognized as one of the preferred names among leading corporate houses in the country. He played a pivotal role in achieving the 1st International Award for the Bank “Asian Banking & Finance Wholesale Banking Award, 2021.”.
He has approximately 21 years of experience in the banking and financial sector, covering both local and multinational banks. Mr. Saddat is a Certified Financial Consultant (CFC) from the Institute of Financial Consultants (IFC) in Canada. An MBA from the Department of Finance, University of Dhaka Mr. Saddat has expertise in corporate & SME credit, offshore banking, FI credit lines and business, trade services, supply chain finance, recovery solutions, structured finance, cash management solutions, lease finance, and Islamic banking..
