Since I recently came across a situation where I had to track down which line in a spam blacklist caused a hit, and since it was fairly tedious even with mediawiki.org's short local blacklist, I wrote a script to automate checking all of the lines of the blacklist to find a match: m:User:DannyS712/FindBlacklistEntry.js. I want to suggest adding a regex to catch any URL containing "mcafee" and ending in ".ml" or ".cf", or even just any domain containing "mcafee" that doesn't end in ".com". We have a particular link hijacker ( Jouletale) who is the reason McAfee is extended-protected, is now gaming extended-confirmed just to be able to spam more links [10] [11]. I've got a couple of IPs where every domain on the IP that's been added on-wiki is spammy. Is there a way to blacklist everything from that IP? GeneralNotability, there is not an automatic way of doing that (would be a nice feature though to add to
m:Community Wishlist Survey 2021/Admins and patrollers/Overhaul spam-blacklist). There are online tools to see what websites are all hosted on that IP, and with that list you can start a thread here. You can however add 'resolve ###.###.###.###' to XLinkBot's revertlist (and possibly to its more aggressive lists) and have it revert any website that resolves to that IP. You'll still have to blacklist the new domains, but at least (most of) the cleanup should be done. (I am not sure whether posting
{{ LinkSummary|###.###.###.###}}reports additions of the IP or of websites that resolve to that IP, there is an IRC command that does that which I don't recall anymore, have to look in the code). Dirk Beetstra T C 05:28, 22 December 2020 (UTC)-

- Just saw this, as I own this server (www.hbarel.com). It is a personal blog indeed; this is where I publish my scientific essays for the past 15 years; none of the essays is even close to self-promotion or to ads. I suggest not judging before taking a quick look. I do note a few contributions that were done from the server's network IP address, by a couple of users, and they are all merely citations to professional articles on the server. If you count it as self-promotion, then I don't mind if those are removed (as they were), but calling this server a spam source is a bit too far and completely unsubstantiated. Regarding co-location: the domain is about 20 years old, it did move across ISPs, otherwise it would still be sitting in AOL...— Preceding

- Said site is a fee-for-service site that asks for money before revealing any real information (and won't give info without payment, as far as I can see). There are dozens like it on the Internet, and I think that, if it were not blocked, we would start to see a bunch a linkspam and refspam promoting the site popping up all throughout the encyclopedia.
