Notes
  • Structure incorporates FLW's "Textile Blocks."
  • Significance: Frank Lloyd Wright textile block house (California). / The Samuel Freeman House, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's California textile block houses, was designed in 1924. The use of textured modular units, joined and reinforced, combines structure and the finished surface into one system. By contrasting plain blocks, the textured units assist the articulation of forms and surfaces; the repetition of pattern on the interior unites the entire building into a cohesive whole. The sensitivity for building and site relationship in stepping down the hillside in two levels, affording magnificent views of the city.
