The language families and individual languages below are (more or less) part of a general Northern Northwest Coast Sprachbund (or linguistic area).[ citation needed] This Sprachbund may be a sub-area of the Northwest Coast Sprachbund.

Traits:

  1. lack of labial obstruents
  2. "promiscuous" number marking
  3. periphrastic possession
  4. head-final ( SOV)
  5. noun classificatory systems
