This category is for Church of England ministers who were ejected or otherwise resigned their livings or charges as a direct consequence of the Act of Uniformity 1662. It includes ministers who held livings at the time, but were not episcopally ordained, under the Commonwealth. The exclusion resulting put an end to " Puritanism" considered as a reform movement in the Church of England, marking a watershed after which it is more accurate to talk of Nonconformism. The total number of these excluded clergy was estimated at 2,450, by Edmund Calamy, of whom 1300 became nonconforming ministers. See also Category:Ejected Welsh ministers of 1662
