Absorption of regional EMIs

It seems that Warner's strategy to deal with regional EMI labels it acquired (i.e. "EMI Music [Insert Region]") is to rebrand them as "Parlophone Music [Insert Region]", presumably since it has the rights to the Parlophone name but not EMI (e.g. http://www.emimusic.es now redirects to http://www.parlophonemusic.es/, a website I'm almost sure didn't even exist before the split). Does anyone have a citable source to put this in the article? - Estoy Aquí ( talk) 15:06, 23 August 2013 (UTC) reply

Parlophone Label Group

When European regulators forced Universal Music to spin off certain EMI operations before it can approve UMG's acquisition of EMI, the spun off companies were operated separately as Parlophone Label Group which was sold to Warner Music Group. Steelbeard1 ( talk) 16:15, 13 April 2015 (UTC) reply

Only artists with recordings first issued on Parlophone are to be listed here

Now that Parlophone is reissuing recordings first issued on other EMI labels, only artists with recordings first issued on Parlophone are to be in the artists list. I've already deleted David Bowie and George Harrison for that reason. John Lennon is on the list because of the posthumously released Live in New York City (John Lennon album) on Parlophone. Split proposed

The Roster section is getting into WP:IINFO territory. Making a stand alone list would help prevent edits that simply add an artist to this list that's distracting from the main content at hand. – The Grid ( talk) 12:26, 21 June 2019 (UTC) reply

  • Support – I also concur that the size and length is a burden on the article. I will note that it would be necessary to give the new List of Parlophone artists article a proper wikitable and individual citations to verify that each artist listed here is currently releasing under Parlophone or has done so in the past. – PhilipTerryGraham ( talk · articles · reviews) 00:29, 26 October 2019 (UTC) reply
  • Support for reasons already given. -- John Maynard Friedman ( talk) 17:05, 26 October 2019 (UTC) reply

As there have been no objections, I will initiate the split. -- John Maynard Friedman ( talk) 12:00, 21 January 2020 (UTC)-- John Maynard Friedman ( talk) 12:00, 21 January 2020 (UTC) reply

Coldplay exception in the infobox: BRD

I reverted bold addition to the infobox that added some text that the distribution arrangements for Coldplay are an exception to the general rule. No doubt this is true but it bogs the infobox down in detail. If this detail really is critical to anybody except a die-hard Coldplay fan (which I doubt) then it should be added as a footnote (using {{ efn}}). -- John Maynard Friedman ( talk) 09:19, 8 November 2021 (UTC) reply

Also, putting sections of the infobox in small font is discouraged per MOS:SMALL. -- John Maynard Friedman ( talk) 09:52, 8 November 2021 (UTC) reply
