The Zeekr 001 ( simplified Chinese: 极氪 001; traditional Chinese: 極氪 001; pinyin: Jí kè 001) is the first electric vehicle of the Zeekr brand, owned by Geely Automobile Holdings. The vehicle was originally previewed as the Lynk & Co Zero Concept [2] and revealed in 2020 at the Beijing Auto Show, [3] but in October 2021 it was instead was released in China as the Zeekr 001 [4] and is scheduled for release in Europe in 2023. [5]

The Zeekr 001 claims to be the world's first mass-produced EV shooting brake. [6]

Overview

The production 001 was presented on 16 April 2021 at the Auto Shanghai and launched in October 2021 in the Mainland Chinese market. [7] Its shooting brake design is similar to the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo and it features a similar front end to that of the Lynk & Co 05, a model from another brand in the Geely Automobile Holdings group of companies and maybe not a coincidence, as the 001 model was developed by Swedish CEVT as Lynk & Co Zero Concept.

The 001 is based on the Sustainable Experience Architecture platform specific to the electric models of the Geely group. [8]

Performance

The top of the trim variant of the 001 has electric motors on both the front and rear axle, putting out a combined output of 536 hp (400 kW; 543 PS) and 700 N⋅m (516 lb⋅ft) of torque and can propel the 001 from 0–100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.8 seconds, speed max over 200 km/h (124 mph), 30 minutes maximum power output is equal 177 hp (132 kW; 179 PS). [9] Zeekr is claiming that the 001 can run on a full charge for up to 700 km (435 mi), and its charging setup will give it 120 km (75 mi) worth of power in just five minutes of charging time. [10] A special model limited to 1,000 units will be sold in 2023 with the CATL Qilin battery containing 140 kWh to allow up to 1,000 km (621 mi) of range. [11]

2023 model

In January 2023, the upgraded 2023 model Zeekr 001 has been announced. The 2023 model replaced the Japanese Denso motors with Chinese Vremt motors. Vremt (Viridi E-Mobility Technology) is a subsidiary of Zeekr's parent company Geely. [12] [13] Upgraded Zeekr 001 offers an option for 140kWh CATL Qilin batteries, with a maximum range that can exceed 1,000 kilometers. [14]

In September 2023, Zeekr announced a limited performance edition, 001 FR (Future Road [ sic]), featuring quad electric motors that could deliver 1,248 hp (931 kW; 1,265 PS) in total, as well as track-level brakes and suspensions, carbon fiber parts and a "tank turn" mode. [15] It would be built on 800V platform with a 100 kWh CATL Qilin battery. Zeekr planned to deliver 99 vehicles per month. [16]

Sales

2,012 units were sold in more than 150 cities across China during the first full month of production in November 2021, with 199 additional units during October 2021. The company stated its plan to ramp up production during 2022 with a target of 70,000 vehicles, [17] and continuing to prioritize local market customers ahead of a global roll-out in 2023. [4]

Guinness World Records

Zeekr 001 has set two world records. [18] The first one was for the fastest drift by an electric car, at 208 km/h. [19] [20] The second world record was for the fastest slalom by an EV with 50 cones in 49.05 seconds. [21]
