I disagree with some of the naming conventions. We should conform to general Wikipedia rules. There is no need for the article to be named "Sparks Street (Ottawa)" as there is o other Sparks Street in the world deserving of an encyclopedia article. The same goes for Cairine Wilson Secondary School. As to embassies I think it is always best to use their official names. The Russian embassy refers to itself as the "Embassy of the Russian Federation in Canada" not in Ottawa [1]. - SimonP 14:33, Apr 6, 2005 (UTC)
I noticed in WikiBooks that there is an [ Ottawa Travel Guide] page. Anybody on WikiProject Ottawa interested in making this slightly palatable? -- RealGrouchy 20:10, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
I've done some touching up to the Frank Clair Stadium (hope U of O and Carleton U Alumnus aren't upset with the Panda Bowl comments--I removed the "North Side Sucks" references) and Ottawa Civic Centre sites. Perhaps anyone with hockey background might want to describe the ECHL that played in the former arena in the early 1960s, and while just one concert at Lansdowne was mentioned (Rolling Stones 8/05), I'm surprised there's no reference to the Ottawa EX?? BTW, I might be interested in tackling a couple of the Church Histories, if anyone more local isn't interested

BTW, someone added the "Northside Sucks!/Southside Sucks!" to Frank Clair Stadium again--is that a real highlight of Ottawa Life?? I'm surprised the Jerry Springerish idea of the Renegade owners for women to take off their tops for a necklace at Renegade games wasn't included! Bacl-presby 22:38, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Just revised the entry to NHL Coaching wizard, Roger Neilson. When the "Roger's Place" opens at CHEO, I trust some revision can be made to CHEO's site. BTW, any local Ottawa feature apart from the Coaches Room at Scoatiabank Place and a AAA Peewee Hockey Division to be renamed after him?? (Park, Arena, Street?) Certainly notable for local Wikipedians - not sure if others outside will say so. Anyways, I've mentionned it also in the Barrhaven article mentionning that it was similar to the Jennifer Teague case which could also be subject for an article if anybody from Ottawa agrees that her case will be article worthy (forget those outside Ottawa (we will tag the Wikiproject Ottawa on the article if needed). -- JForget 01:07, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Hello. I'm a member of the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, which is looking to identify quality articles in Wikipedia for future publication on CD or paper. We recently began assessing articles using these criteria, and we are are asking for your help. As you are most aware of the issues surrounding your focus area, we are wondering if you could provide us with a list of the articles that fall within the scope of your WikiProject, and that are either featured, A-class, B-class, or Good articles, with no POV or copyright problems. Do you have any recommendations? If you do, please post your suggestions at the listing of all active Places WikiProjects, and if you have any questions, ask me in the Work Via WikiProjects talk page or directly in my talk page. Hi, I need someone in Ottawa to do me a big favor. I would like some research done. I am currently working on a plan to expand Northwest Territories Legislative Building I would like to include the historical legislatures: ie: NWT Government House in Battleford the Territorial Legisalture in Regina. I also want to know which building the Territorial Government sat in, while in Ottawa. I know it is on Sparks Street. But I can't find anything relating to an address, or if the building still exists. I know there is still a government office on sparks street relating to the NWT, but I can't say for sure if it is the same one that the Legislative Council used. If someone in Ottawa could possibly use local resources to dig this information up I would be greatfull. -- Cloveious 21:16, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Hello everyone, I'm new to this project but being an Ottawa native, I still am proud to be where I am from and continue to strive to help the community know more. That being said, I was reviewing many articles and had come up on the
OC Transpo page and saw no mention of the 1999 incident. I've added some information of it and have tried to google more information but alas, an incident 7 years old is hard to come by information at this stage. If any of you have old articles saved up in regards to this, please post what you can. I will also be creating subpages of the victims once I am able to find pics that can be posted up for them as well. --

I see that many of the OC transpo route articles have been proposed for deletion as being non-encylopedian.
I would say that I can see both sides of that issue, and do find the comment that someone made that they could not even determine where OC transpo was located as being a sign that the series is at the least in need of work.
On the other hand, if we are a city that is linked tith it's transit system, the transit links may be an important component of the overall package. I also personaly have the attitude that once an article is written leaving it around may allow someone to find a clue in whatever search they may have for information. That it the attitude that I would take.
Anyway, visit OC Transpo Route 118 and follow the link if you have any thought on the matter. cmacd 18:00, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Pretty soon, I'll possibly create articles for St. Laurent (article just started), Les Promenades de l'Outaouais and Carlingwood shopping centres as they are the major malls without articles so far. So far, Bayshore is very detailled (put will need to retrace the history of the mall), while Rideau Centre & Place d'Orleans have pages too.-- JForget 23:11, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
Could I also suggest the Kanata Centrum and Pinecrest Big Box plazas, that also represent some signifigance...on a recent visit to Kanata, found the "walk" reminisant of many a 1950s plaza that were covered over in the 1970s!! Bacl-presby 00:20, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
I've put Kanata Centrum and Riocan Marketplace in the list of Ottawa buildings or should say shopping centres that could be fitted for an article notably because of its importance for suburban residents and also the indication of rapid growth in Kanata and Barrhaven and need for closer shopping areas.. I doubt Pinecrest, despite its anchor tenant IKEA will pass since there is a lot less stores and services then the previous two and the fact that they are mostly home-improvement type stores (IKEA, Linen-Chest, Corbeil, Sears (decoration?) store, Michael's, etc). so i've put only the Centrum and the Marketplace for now. Now since Carlingwood will be saved from deletion (likely as their is only one in favor of deletion with a least a dozen in favor to keep tje article), I will probably start an article for les Promenades de l'Outaouais soon as it is the second largest in total space in the region. I think they are close to 200 stores (although lots of vacant space). Plus they just acquired the new Costco store last spring. -- JForget 23:21, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Just created Les Promenades de l'Outaouais with some history info, although there could be more to be added especially during the early years of its existence, although i've did the history regarding the closure of the former Eaton and K-Mart and the expension and the new Costco-- JForget 01:49, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Someone, most likely not from Ottawa wants to delete this page please go to this talk page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carlingwood Mall to make this article stay as it is one of the most important malls. Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 18:33, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
A user outside of Ottawa had nominated the articles of Routes 95, 96 and 97 for deletion. However, considering these are notable (which was not for the other previous deleted articles) due to service through a unique transit corridor the Transitway and serving various touristic areas across the National Capital Region, it is important to keep these three articles save or at least merged into the OC Transpo article.-- JForget 21:09, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
I've stored copies of the three articles in my User Page as well, so if it's deleted, these articles will still be accessible from there. Should have did the same for the rest before.-- JForget 21:17, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

I've just posted in the Canadian Public Transportation Forum (Ottawa area) [4], a group of transit fans to see if anyone has sites that can contain history about the Transit Routes 95, 96 and 97 (including an older version of route 96) When the info is out, the changes will be drastict. I'm think essentially the utility of the route along with its history and recent and future changes as well as key destinations along its way along with an infobox just like it was done with route 99 before it was canned The older versions would still exist in my user pages, but will add also new details there except the photos if any.-- JForget 03:17, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
The 95 and 97 articles also got the same faith, although early history will need some more extensive research though as it is mostly just recent history. Added also communities served by the three (including future ones)-- JForget 20:56, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Not only is User:Proto (from Wales, UK) seeking to toast the route 95/96/97 articles, but also threw in a delete request on Trim Road. Perhaps more reasonable was Proto's sources tags on Riverside Drive and Airport Parkway - we should indeed drop some sources into the Ottawa roads/streets articles. Dl2000 00:05, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Definitely with the urban sprawl underaway routes such Trim, Limebank, Albion, the Airport Parkway and Earl Armstong will definitely be notable in the future due to high volume of traffic, urban development and in some cases used by the O-Train if they don't canned the projects. I've mentionned in the talk page that if deleted Trim will likely be re-created afterwards in a year or two.-- JForget 20:31, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
I was amazed to see that despite being a World Champion in the Strongmen Competiton and is one of the major contributors to the development of this sport in Canada, he didn't have an article. Well no more, I've just launch a new article about him. Go take a look and do any additions or corrections if necessary. I will probably check afterwards about additionnal detail especially an update on his return and rehab situations. I know he had a serious foot injury in 2004 that force him to miss most of 2005 and 2006 -- JForget 20:16, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
With the newly created articles of the two new faces on council, every councillor for the next term has an article now.-- JForget 15:31, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Would it be appropriate if we have the chance to create pages for member of the Gatineau City Council? No councillors actually in office have a web page. Only former councillors Lawrence Cannon (a Conservative MP) and Marc Bureau (current mayor of Gatineau) have articles.-- JForget 18:49, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
I also noticed that several semi-important roads have no articles yet. Since some may not be article-worthy, I've redirected some of them to articles of other routes (ex:Vanier Parkway & River Road with Riverside Drive, St. Patrick Street with Beechwood Avenue and Pinecresr Road with Greenbank Road. Some brief description of the roads that are redirected are mentionned in the article that it is redirected. I wondering if it's a good idea to do it that way.-- JForget 19:08, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
I have also noticed plenty of articles on schools (even primary ones) in Ottawa and I was wondering if it would be necessary to create articles about schools in Gatineau, at least the High schools (i.e Mont-Bleu, L'Erabliere, Nicolas-Gatineau, etc. Please feel free to comment about that here on my talk page Thanks!-- JForget 01:42, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
I haven't really plan on doing the elementary schools, that would be ridiculously long. No, I will just do the high schools. I've seen that St-Alexandre also had an article which I haven't detected until I've made my run with the Ottawa Templates. So it would be at least 7 articles on high schools to do. The CEGEP de l'Outaouais article would be in dire need of a major expansion. Although it won't be probably for at least a couple of weeks or not before I finish my exam week, that will be next week. I have possible major plans for new articles related to Gatineau. I have plans to do also articles on major neighborhoods such as downtown Hull (or Old Hull), Le Plateau, Mont-Bleu, Limbour, Wychwood, Pointe-Gatineau, etc since there have been a trend like this for the Ottawa neighborhoods. There would be at least a good 12-15 of them that would warrant an article. Then afterwards, there would be 17 articles on the councillors in Gatineau.I don't think there is a need for additionnal road articles except maybe one or two (probably Buckingham's main street would be one).-- JForget 18:48, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
I've created articles for Saint-Joseph, L'Erabliere, Le Carrefour, Du Versant, Nicolas-Gatineau, De l'Ile & Mont-Bleu. Hormidas-Gamelin doesn't seem to have a website just yet (maybe I can search more later). I've also created article for the Commission Scolaire des Portages-de-l'Outaouais & Commission Scolaire des Draveurs school boards. I'm just following the trend of Ottawa. Yep there will be some stuff to add in the future. Some of their websites are just having a lack of details. JForget 02:14, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
I've seen that Prescott-Russell template categorized the pages in a category, so I added this to the category. The talkpages, to appear, have to be edited and resaved. -- Deenoe 03:06, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
The page for LiVE 88.5 FM is being improperly and repeatedly edited by an anonymous IP - see Talk:CILV-FM for summary of the problems. The recent changes go as far to claim the page to be "edited by station representatives" (apparent WP:COI/NPOV violation). It's something of an edit war, but project members are encouraged to revert any out-of-WP-policy edits on the page. Dl2000 02:57, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

I'd highly recommend starting to use these geotags on everything, like this {{coor title d|43.558509|N|79.712452|W|type:landmark}}. Literally everything, except people, should have a tag, so it shows up on the map. Historic events, malls, office buildings, whatever there's an article on. Even something "non-locational" like OC Transpo Route 95 should be marked, perhaps at Fallowfield Station. Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 21:56, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Probably the classification of certain roads may be disputed, but go to Template:Ottawa Roads if any want to change either the style or the classification of one particular road. User:GreenJoe has been proceeding on deleting the Wikiproject Ottawa template on Gatineau articles, but the template itself specifies that the project includes articles within the National Capital Region and that according to the article National Capital Region (Canada) it does includes Gatineau as well as Cantley, Chelsea and other surronding areas and the templates thus must be kept. I've sent him a message in regards to that.-- JForget 19:03, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
In any event, what I may have done, or may not have done, is not relevant. What "the founder" may or may not have told you is irrelevant. What is relevant is WP:CON, and if you want to make significant changes, esp. when there are other editors who seem taken aback by them, then allow for there to be a discussion first.

Hi everyone! I am the project's newest member to sign up. I've done a little bit of copyediting work on some of the Ottawa road articles, and did a fair bit of fleshing out of Bridlewood. I'd appreciate it if someone could give it a look and let me know if there is anything problematic. Specifically, I think that some of the online sources I've included are rather weak, so I'm hoping someone has some stronger sources to include. In any case, I'm glad to be here and look forward to editing with you in the future!-- Xnuala ( talk) 01:24, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

OC Transpo's site mentions that black routes runs all day, generally seven days a week. However, not all routes are running all day long like the 6, 123, 141, 165, 181. Maybe I though that we should add a section with regular off-peak routes that does not run 7 days a week or all day long. That would probably include routes 6, 101, 123, 127, 141, 164, 165, 178 and 186 (and probably a few more. As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria and I'm specifically going over all of the "Meteorology and atmospheric sciences" articles. I have reviewed North American ice storm of 1998 and believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. I have left this message at this WikiProject's talk page so that any interested members can assist in helping the article keep its GA status. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues concerning sourcing that may need to be addressed, and I'll leave the article on hold for seven days for them to be fixed. I have left messages on the talk pages of the main contributors of the article along with other WikiProjects. Please consider helping address the several points that I listed on the talk page of the article, which shouldn't take too long to fix if multiple editors assist in the workload. I disagree with disambiguating the roads. Wikipedia does not require disambiguation unless 2 or more subjects share the same name. A lot of the Ottawa roads' names are exclusive, and always will be. Example: Terry Fox Drive (Ottawa), which I tried to move to Terry Fox Drive, but it wouldn't let me, so I ended up blanking the page out of frustration. Someone has to fix this problem, and then move the required pages. -- Pwnage8 ( talk) 20:53, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello all...
An image used in the Algonquin College article, specifically Image:Algonquin-name.jpg and also Image:Algonquin-sign.jpg, has a little bit of a licensing issue. The image was uploaded back when the rules around image uploading were less restrictive. It is presumed that the uploader was willing to license the picture under the GFDL license but was not clear in that regard. As such, the image, while not at risk of deletion, is likely not clearly licensed to allow for free use in any future use of this article. If anyone has an image that can replace this, or can go take one and upload it, it would be best.

Similar to other transit systems in North America, including Toronto, Montreal and New York, bloggers have made significant contributions to overall citizens debate. In Toronto, local blogger Steve Munro (www.stevemunro.ca) is considered a major contributor to the transit planning debate in the City of Toronto. In Seattle, ideas generated in major blogs and discussion boards have often been cited in City Council for policy options. To some extent, legitimate blogs should be considered as a major source of news, policy options and opinion, and as such, links and citations to local blogs should be acceptable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.26.28.70 ( talk) 21:20, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

An IP editor has recently added a great deal of material to this article. Most of it is referenced, but to paper sources that are not easy to access and thus hard to verify. That problem aside the article is now very biased against the NCC and park management, which is unsurprising since the IP editor has indicated his connection to organizations opposed to the NCC and its policies. As it currently stands the article easily fails WP:NPOV and thus needs fixing. I would like to invite editors from this WikiProject to review what has been added, edit the article or at least add some comments to the talk page to assist in returning some balance to this article. - Ahunt ( talk) 11:40, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
This article was recently split from Gatineau Park so that that latter article would not become overloaded with the political story of the park instead of a physical description of it. I just wanted to point out the article's existence and invite editors on this project to participate in making the article more complete and keeping it balanced. - Ahunt ( talk) 20:31, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
I would like advice/help in assessing what is going on on the Politics of Gatineau Park/Gatineau Park files. I have been blocked from editing for 24 hours because I broke the 3R rule. However, the reason I broke it was that two editors (Ahunt and M.nelson) were changing my contributions and edits, in a manner I feel to be arbitrary. Although it is clear that I broke the letter of the 3R rule, I feel these two editors have violated its spirit, by together reversing my work. Their changes do not affect the neutrality of the article. They have changed simple wording, and have removed a quote attributed to a reliable source.
Moreover, they claim I am in a conflict of interest because of my link to the "Gatineau Park Protection Committee." However, this is only an informal, on-paper group with no funding, no web site, no "personal" interest in the matter--in the sense that we are not in it for ourselves. Our interest is purely public, historical and factual. We have tried to provide all references requested. We consider ourselves to be experts on this issue, and as the COI Wiki rules say, "experts on trees are not discouraged from contributing to articles on trees," or some such formula.
Anyhow, any advice, help you might provide on this article, and/or the edits for which I have been "benched" would be appreciated.
As well, I would invite other editors to monitor what is going on on those pages, to prevent Ahunt and M.nelson from going totally arbitrary.-- Stoneacres ( talk) 19:17, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

I have made it possible to add an article to the Canada and Ottawa articles at once using {{ WikiProject Canada |ottawa=yes}}. It can be used along with other Canada projects, for example {{{{ WikiProject Canada |ottawa=yes |music=yes |nl=yes | class=start |importance=low}} for a band that moved from Newfoundland to Ottawa. You can still use the existing {{ OttawaProject}} template if you want to use a unique importance rating or use the map= or photo= parameters, but in general it's useful to share the work between projects. -- Arctic Gnome ( talk • contribs) 03:25, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi, WikiProject Ottawa. I'd like to do a straw poll to see if and how you would like to allow tagging of your articles using a merged template. The Canada template is kind of a top-level catchall template that allows all Canadian WikiProjects to be added to talk pages at once with a standardized setup.
If the option is allowed, it would let users add articles to both this project and WikiProject Canada using {{ WikiProject Canada |Ottawa=yes}} (or |Gatineau=yes). This is also how articles from projects like Canada Sports and Canada Roads are done, so you would be able to add articles to multiple projects using something like {{WikiProject Canada |ottawa=yes |music=yes}}.
The projects would share a class rating, but WPOttawa would have it's own importance rating using |ottawa-importance= or |gatineau-importance=. Optionally, it could be set to default to WPCanada's importance if there is no Ottawa importance and put the article into the additional category Category:Ottawa articles with inherited importance.
My questions to you are:
Thanks for your input! -- Arctic Gnome ( talk • contribs) 16:11, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

There is talk about deleting all unreferenced BLPs, so it would be helpful if editors could take a stab at referencing those listed. Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the Ottawa articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

If so, do you know how we can achieve the same effect with our own Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ottawa#Hot_articles and Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ottawa#Article_assessment_table? Ottawahitech ( talk) 21:43, 28 November 2016 (UTC)please ping me
@ Kaldari: I use the hot article list often to see what is happening and who is active in Ottawa. It sure would be nice to add activity taking place when an article is nominated (see: article alerts). For example many of Ottawa's roads articles have been recently deleted, and at least one ( Beechwood Avenue) is currently potentially on the chopping block, but since very few editors will edit a nominated article Beechwood is no longer on the hot list. I realize this may be difficult to implement, but it sure would be nice to add the edits made in the nomination discussion in determining the rank of an article on the hot list. Am I making sense to anyone?
Is anyone able to get a better photo of the memorial statue to Baker that is some where in the Canadian parliament building than this one we currently have in George Harold Baker? If this is possible, I might have some other photo requests as well, so please ping back to let me know. Carcharoth ( talk) 21:23, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
Sort of related to the above, the same sculptor ( R. Tait McKenzie) did another statue to a soldier who died on active service in the First World War. This one was of Guy Melfort Drummond, son of George Alexander Drummond and Grace Julia Parker Drummond. It is a half-size statue (not life-size), and it was at one point held by the Ottawa Archives (the 'Dominion Archives'). I think this is what is now Library and Archives Canada. It seems to be difficult to contact them online. What is the best way to find out if they still have this statue, or have it on public display somewhere? The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.
Portals are being redesigned.
The new design features are being applied to existing portals.
At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{ Transclude lead excerpt}}.
The discussion about this can be found here.
Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.
On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.
Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.
So far, 84 editors have joined.
If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.
If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.
Thank you. — The Transhumanist 07:50, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
I've created a stub for the Plaza Bridge at Plaza Bridge (Ottawa), and removed the picture from the list of pictures needing articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andy Johnston ( talk • contribs) 17:32, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Is this really worthy of an article? It's not as if it's identifiable as a station, as is the case with, say, Billings Bridge or even Heron. I think the content could be covered in the article on the airport. Any thoughts? -- RFBailey ( talk) 01:51, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
A new Newsletter directory has been created to replace the old, out-of-date one. If your WikiProject and its taskforces have newsletters (even inactive ones), or if you know of a missing newsletter (including from sister projects like WikiSpecies), please include it in the directory! The template can be a bit tricky, so if you need help, just post the newsletter on the template's talk page and someone will add it for you.
Wikipedia talk:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board#Proposal to redirect all Canadian project related talk pages...-- Moxy 🍁 22:39, 20 August 2019 (UTC)
A discussion is taking place as to whether Portal:Ottawa is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The page will be discussed at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Ottawa until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the page during the discussion, including to improve the page to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the deletion notice from the top of the page. North America 1000 01:10, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
Hello and greetings from the maintainers of the WP 1.0 Bot! As you may or may not know, we are currently involved in an overhaul of the bot, in order to make it more modern and maintainable. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.
We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? We have collected all of these questions at this Google form where you can leave your response. Walkerma ( talk) 04:24, 27 October 2019 (UTC)
