Welcome to your Wikipedia assignment's course timeline. This page guides you through the steps you'll need to complete for your Wikipedia assignment, with links to training modules and your classmates' work spaces. While we have been using Canvas for the past 3 weeks, the Wiki course helps me and you track your progress on Wikipedia. 

Your course has been assigned a Wikipedia Expert. You can reach them through the Get Help button at the top of this page.

This week is getting comfortable on Wikipedia. We'll make sure everyone is signed up for this course, and we'll do the Wikipedia Adventure in class.

Create an account and join this course page, using the enrollment link your instructor sent you. (Because of Wikipedia's technical restraints, you may receive a message that you cannot create an account. To resolve this, please try again off campus or the next day.)

Milestones

This week, everyone should have a Wikipedia account.

Assignment - Exploring Stubs

This week you will eplore Kentucky-related stubs. What you choose is up to you, please follow your own interests and not what you think your instructor will want. While you have time to change your topic later, choosing a stub that you'll be interested in long term will help you build your resources throughout the course.

This week will continue finding quality sources that will help guide your revisions and edits.

Assignment - Making Connections

This week we are mostly working in Canvas and preparing our research to share in class. Once we share our work and receive feedback, then we'll begin the process to propose edits.

In class - Presentation Week

We're not doing anything in WikiEdu this week since we present in class.

In class - Starting the Proposal

Before we get to editing, we need to propose edits and get them reviewed by your peers and the instructor. Since we're new to research, this will help strengthen our ideas before we click "publish" on Wikipedia.

In class - Peer Reviewing Proposal

This week we are collaborating on our proposals to see what your peers are doing. Successful research is collaborative, so we'll share out plans to make them better.

In class - Proposal Due

This week the proposal will have a rolling due date. The earlier you submit, the sooner you get feedback from your instructor. But if you need more time, please take the time to get your plan established on paper.

In class - Editing Week

This week is devoted to completing your proposed edits on Wikipedia. It is recommended that you work in your sandbox before submitting on the official pages. Add citations, revise wording, correct spelling, etc. Make sure you track your time.

In class - Thanksgiving Week

We have class on Monday, but enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

In class - Reflection and Presentation Preparation

This week you will check back on your pages to see if community editors have added to your work or even removed it. Them removing it doesn't affect your grade, but participating in that conversation about your revisions will provide productive content for your reflection essay. This is a community, so even if your additions get taken down, you still tried and that is the important part.

You'll also be putting together your final presentation about your Wiki stub, your edits, and what you've learned from this research process.
