This is the WikiProject Environment page for creating Environment of Foo articles (where Foo is a political or geographical entity).

Rationale

New articles are generally created in an ad-hoc manner and expanded in an organic, anarchic way over a period of time. In order to give some structure to creating these articles it is proposed that they will be initially developed in Wikipedia namespace before being migrated into article namespace. An article must reach at least Start Class status before being moved to article space. This will ensure the quality of an article is of a standard acceptable to the project members. Also, at present only a small number of "Environment of Foo" articles exist and many more are needed for completeness and to avoid systemic bias.

This series of environment articles is at least as important as the history, economy and politics articles for the different countries. The environment and environmental issues are of an increasing interest to those who are not involved in the environmental movement.

Countries

Since the environment articles will contain political information as an important aspect, a set of environmental articles based on political entities is needed. A list of countries is at List of sovereign states. Based on this list the following articles or redirects exist:

Work in progress

Pages are stored as a subpage of Wikipedia:WikiProject Environment/Environment of Foo (this page).

Template

The text below can be used to manually create an article.

To use the template manually:

  • copy and paste the text into a new page in the form "Environment of Foo" as a subpage of Wikipedia:WikiProject Environment/Environment by country
  • replace all occurrences of "Foo" with the subject of the article
  • carry out any further editing
    • choose an image that gives the country location. One of the two formats listed should work.
    • do not delete any unused section headers os redlinks until it is ready to be moved to article space
    • Add an image to the country portal
    • finish the wikicode for the category
  • save the article for editing by other project members
