Template Basic function Documentation page Comments
{{ cite DNB}} Inline citation and end reference to DNB, first edition. Template:Cite DNB/doc This template allows author by "first", "last" and "authorlink". Used as {{cite DNB|wstitle= .}} it will link to an existing Wikisource article; it does not have to be used in just this fashion, though. Wikisource pages give original page and volume numbers, and author information via a link. All of these can be added separately here.
{{ DNB}} Attribution, in cases where DNB text or a close paraphrase is added to the article. Add at the end of the footer section. Template:DNB/doc The use of this template in line with WP:PLAGIARISM is basic also for tracking added text. Used as {{DNB|wstitle= .}} it gives access to what the original source says, helping with fact-checking.
{{ cite DNBSupp}}, {{ DNBSupp}} These are versions of the above for the first supplement, i.e. Wikisource articles with suffix (DNB01). Template:cite DNBSupp/doc, Template:DNBSupp/doc
{{ cite DNB12}}, {{ DNB12}} These are versions of the above for the second supplement, i.e. Wikisource articles with suffix (DNB12). The further DNB supplements that followed are not public domain text. Template:cite DNB12/doc, Template:DNBSupp12/doc
{{ Cite ODNB}} Citation template for the modern Oxford Dictionary of National Biography subscription website. Template:Cite ODNB/doc Recent discussion on Template talk:Cite ODNB.
{{ DNBfirst}} Auxiliary template to be used with {{ ODNBweb}}, to give access to the old PD version of an article. Template:DNBfirst/doc The old versions often have more information of certain kinds (bibliographical, portraits, family) which may be useful.
{{ Wikisource}} Generic Wikisource poster to create an interwiki link to relevant information. Template:Wikisource/doc Deprecated for DNB citation and attribution purposes, as too vague.
