Several other IPs are almost certainly involved; see my post below. Brusquedandelion ( talk) 02:39, 10 April 2024 (UTC) reply

Suspected sockpuppets

Ugaas Raage was recently banned after an ANI report pointing to extremely tendentious and disruptive editing on pages about various Somali military leaders. The IP addresses 197.157.231.74, 105.161.201.189, and/or 105.49.191.206 are making exactly the same kinds of edits. Clicking on each IP will show the geolocation and IP information, showing that all three IP addresses are almost certainly from the same person; a checkuser may be necessary to confirm that Ugaas Raage's IP matches. Example diffs:

  1. Ugaas Raage ( talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log):
    1. Mohammad Ali Samatar: [3], [4]
    2. Siad Barre: [5], [6], [7]
  2. 197.157.231.74 ( talk · contribs · WHOIS):

    2. Siad Barre: [9], [10], [11]
  3. 105.161.201.189 ( talk · contribs · WHOIS):
    1. Siad Barre: [12]
  4. 105.49.191.206 ( talk · contribs · WHOIS):
    1. Siad Barre: [13] Brusquedandelion ( talk) 12:17, 8 April 2024 (UTC) reply

  •  Check declined – Checkusers will not link accounts to IPs, per the privacy policy.  Behavioural evidence needs evaluation. Spicy ( talk) 01:51, 9 April 2024 (UTC) reply
@ Spicy ok... so basically if someone uses an IP address to sockpuppet, nothing can be done about it? What... Brusquedandelion ( talk) 02:38, 10 April 2024 (UTC) reply
  • IP from the prior filing is currently blocked, the two 105.* IPs have been are stale. Closing. DatGuy Talk Contribs 14:10, 10 April 2024 (UTC) reply
@ DatGuy please don't close this. 197.157.231.74 ( talk · contribs · WHOIS) was only banned for a week, which doesn't make any sense, given it is an obvious sockpuppet. Brusquedandelion ( talk) 03:28, 11 April 2024 (UTC) reply
@ Brusquedandelion: it is a dynamic IP, not a registered account. ISPs frequently rotate the IPs assigned for each client. If I block them indefinitely, it would impact the next, unrelated recipient of the IP address. DatGuy Talk Contribs 12:16, 11 April 2024 (UTC) reply
