Suspected sockpuppets

To Whom It May Concern, Kelownatopdog has been a militantly prolific sock puppeteer as anyone is familiar with his history can arrest to. The article Indo-Canadian organized crime is one that he is obsessed with, and since page protection for that article expired on Monday it should come as no surprise that he has returned. A surefire way of knowing a sockpuppet is when a new account appears and the first thing that an editor does is restore a bunch of material put by a previous sock puppet. Seemcoming is a brand new account and the very second edit made is this one [1] with the edit summary "rescuing orphaned refs + further added". Compare that edit with this one [2] by the sock puppet DJ drama23 "further context and references were needed to provide a adequate historical background". The edit by Seemcoming is precisely very much the same one with off topic discussion with the Ghadar movement. It is also notable that Seemcoming is pushing the theme of alleged "Sikhness" of Indo-Canadian organized crime with the theme that Sikhs are gangsters, a theme that is very consistent with Kelownatopdog's prior edits to this article.

The editor Jeenday is also a new account with only three edits. The edits are [3] with the edit summary "details from given links #article-section-source-editor"; [4] with the edit summary "sentence structure #article-section-source-editor" and [5] with the edit summary "no source for Kang crime group turning rivals". One of the marks of Kelownatopdog are short, concise edit summaries that says something about the "details" in the article or there is no source for something or he is adding a source. Compare the edits of Jeenday with this edit by the sock puppet ASBrown-pack [6] with the edit summary "No source for Kang crime group (BIBO gang) being allies". And this edit by the IP 199.7.156.232 who is Kelownatopdog [7] with the edit summary "Removal of referenced details restored, user “Drmies” may be a vandal". Again, this edit [8] by the sock puppet Gotitcro with the edit summary "Added details and refernces". And this edit by the sock puppet PickNroll999 [9] with the edit summary "details and references added". And again this edit [10] by the sock puppet Watchthislilsuzy with the edit summary "Unsourced info removed and details corrected". Jeenday's edits seem very similar to other edits by the sock puppets of Kelowatopdog.

As for the IPs, this edit [11] by the 199.119.233.168 with the edit summary "Rescued valid citations once again" speaks for itself. This reference to editing "once again" are not the words of someone who has never edited before. Compare that edit with this one by [12] by DJ drama23 with the edit summary "restored ref's". And compare that with these edits [13], [14], and [15] by the sock puppet Jet Lii. It is precisely the same material being added over and over again. As for the IP 199.7.157.115, compare this edit [16] with edit summary "provide a reason for the sources removal or prove alleged "block evasion" and this edit [17] with the edit summary "give a balid reason for sources removal, or any proof of a block evasion". The same material was put by another 199.119.233.216 with this edit [18] with the edit summary "sources supplemented", which sounds very much Kelowantopdog. And compare those edits with this edit [19] by the sock puppet ASBrown-pack with the edit summary "Sources added". It alls sounds very much like the same person who putting the same material with the same sources.

As for the IP 199.119.233.163, this edit [20] with the edit summary "source does not mention operation blue star or hair cutting behind the Wikipedia banned paywall on this URL" and this edit [21] with the edit summary "Judges statement not found in said book from source in earlier sentence". It is useful to compare those edits with this one [22] with the edit summary "Details untraceable in sources removed" by the sock puppet Watchthislilsuzy. It sounds very much like the same person. For 199.119.233.129, note this edit to the UN gang article (which Kelownatopdog likes to edit much) here [23] with the edit summary "No sources do Kang group being allies. Add if applicable". That sounds much like Kelownatopdog. And the same IP made this edit to the Mexican Mafia article [24] with the edit summary "Please discuss in the talk page, the Aryan Brotherhood and its ally the Mexican mafia are both known to have a green light on Hells Angels members in California as more than enough sources show, they attack Hells angels members in sight prisons, further this removed source did not indicate any formal alliance between the two groups". And compare that to this edit [25] by Seemcoming with the edit summary "As stated earlier, friendship between individual members or "knowing of" a person, does not constitute an alliance by definition". It seems very odd that a new editor would take up the same dispute with another editor between relations the Mexican Mafia and the Hells Angels in California prisons in precisely the same writing style.

  • Both accounts consistent with historic data for this case. Seemecoming is already blocked; blocking and tagging Jeenday. Also spotted OTpackman, now blocked. Will leave this open for someone else to consider whether these IPs need action. Girth Summit (blether) 12:53, 11 April 2024 (UTC) reply

Suspected sockpuppets

To Whom It May Concern. Our friend Kelownatopdog has been a militantly aggressive sock puppeteer who mostly (but not always) edits articles related to Canadian organized crime. One of the articles that Kelownatopdog has edited in the past has been the Red Scorpions article. At the risk of sounding repetitive, a characteristic of Kelowantogdog's edits are tendencies to make make brief, concise edit summaries or alternatively to make edit summaries that says the sources did not support some statement. Typical of Keownatopdog's edits was these edit summaries by his sockpuppet sock puppet ASBrown-pack [26] with the edit summary "No source for Kang crime group (BIBO gang) being allies"; [27] with the edit summary "United States missing source for being apart of gangs drug territory"; and this one [28] with the edit summary "Sources added". Or consider these edits by the sock puppet Gotitcro such as this one [29] with the edit summary "Added details and refernces"; this one [30] with the edit summary "Source added"; and this one [31] with the edit summary "removed unsourced info". Or this edit by the sock puppet Jeenday [32] with the edit summary "no source for Kang crime group turning rivals".

By way of comparison, please examine these edits by Crazy clientele, namely this one [33] "No reputable source states any separation between the Kang and Latimer groups, or the RS. All news articles suggest the opposite recently"; [34] with the edit summary "Facts added"; and this one [35] with the edit summary "Bacon brothers are Red scorpions, intro sounds redundant". It says very much like the same person, and given the choice of subject matter, it is almost certain that Crazy clientele is Kelownatopdog. Finally, this account is a new one that only showed up on 20th of this month, but this editor seems very familiar with the Wiki-speak such as using RS as a short form for reliable source, which is highly suspicious. Finally, Crazy clientele in his edits to the article 2009 Vancouver gang war is mostly concerned about various Sikh gangsters involved in the gang war, which is very consistent with his prior editing history on articles such as Indo-Canadian organized crime.

As for the IP 199.119.233.214, it is from Toronto, the same city that is Kelownatogdog's hometown. All of the IP accounts that Kelownatopg uses for block evasion come from the Toronto area, and this one has already been partially blocked in the past because it has been used by Kelownatogdog. Kelownatopdog has been engaged in a content dispute with the editor Shaolin Punk on the article Mexican Mafia for the last few months. Compare this edit [36] by the IP 199.119.233.129 with the edit summary "Please discuss in the talk page, the Aryan Brotherhood and its ally the Mexican mafia are both known to have a green light on Hells Angels members in California as more than enough sources show, they attack Hells angels members in sight prisons, further this removed source did not indicate any formal alliance between the two groups". And this edit [37] by the sock puppet Seemecoming with the edit summary "As stated earlier, friendship between individual members or "knowing of" a person, does not constitute an alliance by definition". And finally this edit [38] by the 199.119.233.214 with the edit summary "sources by ShaolinPunk only show a friendship between individual members, policemag source shows rivalry between entire groups". It is clearly the same editor at work here. Thank you for your time and help. -- A.S. Brown ( talk) 07:48, 22 April 2024 (UTC) reply

  •  Confirmed, although they're rather obvious. Behaviourally, while I agree that the flagged IP edits are obviously the same editor, they're not particularly recent, and more recent edits on this range don't seem to be them.
@ A.S. Brown: please use the form on the main SPI page, or the {{ SPI report}} template, to file new reports. It looks like you copied the header from an older report for this, and some essential code was missing. Thanks. Ivanvector ( Talk/ Edits) 12:11, 25 April 2024 (UTC) reply
