Suspected sockpuppets

These users have been reverting to one another and tag-teaming. Most of them are brand new accounts, yet seem to be extremely experienced with Wikipedia. Compare these two edits for examples ( [1]). There also appears to be the creation of new accounts to create a false consensus when there is none. I also suspect some of these users are using open proxies.

I have also  Confirmed that Ahmadbatebi ( talk · contribs) = Emptyspace2008 ( talk · contribs). It is  Likely that Ahmadbatebi/Emptyspace2008 are related to the first group of socks. Unblock of User:Ahmadbatebi/User:Emptyspace2008--argument that they are not Joaj socks

Joaj and his socks were edit-warring with Ahmadbatebi. To me, it seems hard to believe that Joaj would edit war with himself re: substantial factual changes to articles. Also, it is not believable to me, if Ahmadbatebi and Emptyspace are Joaj socks, that the following EXTREMELY HOSTILE interchanges between them would take place on User talk:Ahmadbatebi:

  • Ahmadbatebi: "As a vandal person on this ID : Manime87 [a confirmed Joaj sock] always retouches my page with wrong information in Wikipedia."
  • Joaj to Ahmadbatebi: "You can not change your own history, so please stop vandalizing...Your actions are self-serving and inappropriate."
  • Vistaboy99, a confirmed Joaj sock, to Ahmadbatebi:
    • "What does he mean he doesn't understand?! He seems to understand everything else quite well, yet suddenly develops comprehension problems when it doesn't suit his intentions!...He is more than familiar with the rules and guidelines. Feigning ignorance by someone who has displayed the type of behavior that this guy has is entirely in line with the rest of his strange acts. I recommend a permanent block at a minimum."
    • "This guy...substitutes actual facts with strange materials that are fictional, unsourced, outright fabrications, or attacks on other individuals and attempts to discredit and defame them! He has done this by using various usernames, and continues to ignore repeated warnings against his outrageous behavior. I recommend that this page be blocked from editing. He is out of control and his malice is entirely unwarranted and unacceptable."

User:Ahmadbatebi, if he is indeed Ahmad Batebi, is a former Iranian political prisoner. His experiences received a large amount of press coverage, and for this reason, he would have a strong motive to edit his own WP biography. He has been living in the English speaking world for a relatively short period of time. Thus, he may not completely understand the culture here, and IMO was not fairly treated by our editors. The WP policies about editing one's own biography were not clearly explained to him, and he received an extremely hostile reception from Joaj and his socks upon setting up an account on Wikipedia and trying to edit his own biography (which technically, is not a violation of policy provided that reputable sources and NPOV are used). I agree with User:CordeliaNaismith when she wrote, "Looking at Ahmadbatebi's edits, it seems to me that they were good-faith efforts to make his own article accurate. Also, he asked for an explanation of why this account was being blocked ("what's going on here? i don't understand"), but none was provided. It seems to me that this whole process ran badly afoul of Wikipedia's "Please do not bite the newcomers" policy (as well as the "assume good faith" policy)...I really feel terrible that your account got blocked when it seems to me that you tried in good faith to edit your page to be more accurate."

Personally, I am convinced that Ahmadbatebi and Emptyspace are not Joaj socks. -- AFriedman ( talk) 06:19, 15 November 2009 (UTC) reply

Shayan7 is also probably not a Joaj sock

See User talk:Shayan7 and Talk:Lily Mazahery. Joaj and his confirmed socks made similar uncivil comments to this User, and similar objections to Shayan7's edits. It is possible that Shayan7 is someone who knows Ahmad Batebi, given that Shayan7 seems to corroborate Ahmadbatebi's edits rather than Joaj et al.'s. -- AFriedman ( talk) 08:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC) reply
