I blocked AmazighAcademic for personal attacks. Ingenuity blocked Elyelm, apparently for being a sock of AmazighAcademic. Zeblade12 made the identical edit to Elyelm and AmazighAcademic the next day. I missed that because I didn't have the article on my watchlist and don't normally look at Moroccan articles. What triggered this report is an edit-warring report filed today by Skitash against Zeblade12 at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:Zeblade12 reported by User:Skitash (Result: ) and Skitash's comments about the various users/accounts listed here. Behaviorally, some of this is a bit complicated (almost beyond me, to be honest), so I'm requesting a CU to sort it out. Bbb23 ( talk) 21:53, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
@ Bbb23: Thank you for filing this report. While I don't believe that the mentioned users are directly sockpuppets, I am well aware that they are engaging in WP:MEATPUPPETRY. These users are enlisting assistance off-wiki and encouraging the creation of new accounts to edit war and cause all sorts of disruption. For instance, I encountered this post on Reddit calling on users to revert @ M.Bitton:'s constructive and well-intentioned edit on Tamazgha, depicting it as having ill intent being agenda-driven (even though M.Bitton merely moved the unverifiable text into a footnote). This resulted in multiple IPs and single-purpose accounts targeting and vandalizing the page, including SaraWiki123, Rumihoney, Aniguran, Algerien berber, 154.121.29.44 and 2A02:A472:E083:1:710C:1407:4A6F:B45A before an admin stepped in to protect the page.
Furthermore, that particular subreddit features many other posts, including this one, in which a user (I am pretty certain it was AmazighAcademic) was pointing to edits and calling on users to start edit wars and cause disruption. Despite the edits being justified and primarily centered on the lack of sources and verifiability for the removed content, they were portrayed negatively and framed as malicious. By examining the comments, you can find a few familiar usernames, such as Elyelm. This particular comment on User talk:Zeblade12 by H0x7c00 confirms the meatpuppetry allegations. It's clear that there is coordinated off-wiki activity influencing Wikipedia edits. Skitash ( talk) 22:37, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
