Essjay's nomination statement: Rick has been with us since February 20, 2004. He has an amazing
12736 edits! I see his name running across CDVF all the time on RC Patrol. He's an excellent user, a champion vandalfighter, and deserves to be given the mop. As I've said before, and I'm sure will say again, this one is "no big deal" if any ever were. --

SamuelWantman's nomination statement: This is my first nomination. I've had the pleasure to work with Rick on several collaborations, and have always found him to be insightful, fair, helpful, and a model of civility. I've noticed that many people assume he is already an admin, and call on him for advice and assistance, so in many ways he is already an admin.

I usually only vote on the nominations of candidates whom I've had some form of interaction with or at least whose work I'm familiar with, which isn't the case with RB, but looking it over, this candidate's record is impressive. Support.

Support Essjay said it all, but this list says even more -- it's like a who's who list of the hard workers here on Wikipedia. Now all we need is boothby to give him support and I think it's safe to say that we could nominate Rick for wiki-emperor if Jimbo ever gets tired of the job...

Comment. We wish to comment. We can't quite make up our mind as to whether to append this comment to our Support, Oppose, or Neutral vote. So, we'll just let it hang here twisting in the wind and let you folks ponder its inner meaning.
Originally posted under "Neutral": We definetely do NOT oppose this nomimation. We in fact SUPPORT Rick's promotion to be a first class administrator. Our vote in this section is so that this section not be devoid of comment lest some future reseacher think that there was no such section. So, this section does in fact exist but wasn't used very much. Although this comment was posted in this section, the context of this posting should in no way effect the s/o/n/c tally as we have already voted to support.

No vote. We never did quite understand this section. Is it like "I'm not going to vote and I want to let everyone know that I'm not going to vote. I'm sure that it is very interesting that I am not going to vote so I will announce it here. In case you missed it, I'm not going to vote.

Questions for the candidate A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
I view adminship as more of a chore than anything else. I've been here long enough that it seems it's well past my turn to do some of the work. Things I'd like to help with include RC patrol, CFD closures, and general requests at
WP:AN.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
In no particular order:
I successfully shepherded
Monty Hall problem through
WP:FAC and spent a lot of time trying to help a variety of folks understand the answer. This was my first featured article.
I had a part in the creation of
Template:CategoryTOC, which was a great wikicollaboration and is now nearly a de facto standard addition to large categories.
Starting with approximately
this edit, I've been on a personal
Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers crusade attempting to change the tone toward newcomers at wikipedia's help pages. I've apparently failed at my attempts to help Rich Wannen figure out how to cope here, but I'm very glad I've made the effort.
user:Rick Block/WP600 not admins - seems like there are more than a few folks who've been around plenty long enough to be admins, would like to be, and aren't. I'm not sure, but I think creating this list has instigated a reasonable number of RFAs in the past couple of months for some long overdue folks.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I always try to
assume good faith - and can't remember being involved in any serious conflict. I annoyed someone quite a while ago who was insistently adding childish nonsense, who ended up vandalizing my user page. I think s/he ended up getting blocked.
