Searching that exact term returns 113,000 results on my end, however many of them actually spell it the right way around and it only appears mirrored in page titles and, consequently, page results. I suspect this is due to some technical issue with rendering RTL text on some sites or in file names (since many of the results are links to PDF files). I don't know if that translates into it actually being a helpful redirect to anyone though. • Keep given the ubiquity of RTL errors, even on major sites. (Anyone who's ever seen how Discord interacts with my nick on the Wikimedia community server can attest to this.) • Retarget. We should always be very careful about retargetting shortcut redirects as the potential for harm from changing the meaning of discussions, edit summaries etc is high. In this case there are no incomming links other than in lists of shortcuts and similar, the target page has been historical for more than a decade, there is a clear and logical other target, the current target is not the sort of page that is likely to widely referred to in edit summaries and it gets few page views. All together this means the likelihood of harm from retarggeting is much lower than the average shortcut and there will be a clear benefit to the retargetting.   Shortcut disambigs are almost always the worst of all worlds given that they don't act as shortcuts to any of the listed topics. In this case, we have two targets one of which is a page that has been historical for over a decade and attracted all-but no incomming links across title and shortcut that have survived to the present day, the other is an active Wikiproject for a contemporary country.     Liz Truss didn't coin the phrase "pork markets", so redirecting it to her because she included the phrase in a speech is bizarre. It'd be like redirecting " apples" to Liz Truss because she used the term in the same ridiculous speech; likewise redirecting " imported cheese" because it's how the media concisely refers to (an arguably more infamous) part of that speech. That speech had a lot of ridiculous moments, like proudly declaring Yorkshire Tea is a British export (when it's grown in India), but her use of the English language wasn't what made those moments infamous or memorable. – Scyrme ( talk) 19:31, 14 September 2022 (UTC) reply

• Comment: This is a pretty infamous quote from Liz Truss; however, I say that as someone who despite being American spends far too much time following Westminster. Without a mention on the page and with possible ambiguity (although there is no current target article) for pork market, I feel like I am wavering on this one. I'm not sure how a mention of her quote about opening new pork markets in Beijing and the notable lack of audience response at the Tory conference would best fit into the article.   A disambiguation page only needs to cover content that actually has an article, not every conceivable referent. I doubt there's that many articles to which "pork market" could refer.

  The term isn't really all that vague. Most people searching for "pork market" are probably looking for (a specialist) meat market. Unfortunately that article is a stub (but it being a stub is all the more reason to make it easier to find; more likely someone will add something to it). Meat market doesn't presently mention the phrase, but its relevance as a related topic is self-evident and a line mentioning the existence of "markets specialising in beef, pork, etc." could easily be added to make things a bit more explicit. I could also see people searching for speculation on pork prices, ie. Lean Hog. Per WP:TWODABS, that's enough for a disambiguation page.

  As far as I know, those are the only two; using the search tool I wasn't able to find anything else that wasn't too specific to be relevant (like 2008 Irish pork crisis). The German-language Wikipedia has a disambiguation page for "Schweinemarkt" which lists three places by that name, none of which have English-language articles; even if they did, their names probably wouldn't be translated so they wouldn't be included in a disambiguation page for "pork market". Conceivably an article could be created for Pork industry which might add another plausible target, but that article does not exist yet.   I don't know about permanent markets, but there are pork festivals with pop up meat markets specialising in various forms of pork and pork dishes. eg. in Semarang, Indonesia, 2017; at Karlín Market, Prague, Czechia, 2021 Lots of stalls all selling sausages, hams, bacon, tripe, pork-based soups, various cuts of pig, etc.

Additionally, Meat market reads: A butcher specializes in the preparation and sale of meat. Butchers sometimes operate specialized shops selling meat, known as butcher's shops, meat stores, meat markets or butcheries so "meat market" (and by extension, "pork market") doesn't need to imply many shops/stalls; at least, not in according to the article as it is presently written. – Scyrme ( talk) 15:36, 22 September 2022 (UTC) reply

When I said the "the phrase is common enough" I meant in all its senses, including financial. Hundreds of thousands of results, even if mostly financial, seems "common enough" to me. (Also, many of the economically-focused results don't refer to speculation on prices but to the collective consumer market internationally or in a particular country [such as this news article], ie. to the sale of pork products; if you know a better target for that than Meat market, I don't object to including it in the disambiguation page. Ok with redirecting to Meat industry, or dabbing. We say "A meat market is, traditionally, a marketplace where meat is sold, often by a butcher. It is a specialized wet market." I suspect someone searching for the term is very likely looking for the Liz Truss quote - if I Google "pork markets" in the UK only one of the first 20 hits isn't related to it.
