Wikimedia NYC invites you to attend the Great North American Wiknic, the "picnic anyone can edit" on Governors Island (picnic site: Colonel's Row by ArtCrawl Harlem house) for Sunday August 27, 2023, from about 2:00 to 7:00 pm, as part of the Great North American Wiknic celebrations being held across the continent.
Bring some potluck for the "picnic anyone can edit", which also welcomes to our mix Depths of Wikipedia and the perpetual stew club! We'll also provide some pizza, but we encourage you to bring your own favorite dishes to share, especially for those food cultural topics you would like to improve on Wikipedia.
Sharing outcomes from Wikimania 2023 in Singapore, this event is also a successor to our last big pre-Covid Wiknic, Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Wiknic 2019.
Our edit-a-thon focus for this event is Governors Island itself and recognizing host ArtCrawl Harlem, collaborating on a new expansive article on the Culture of Harlem. To facilitate, we will be bringing a premium Wi-Fi hotspot to the island so everyone can edit Wikipedia from their laptops or other devices if they wish.
