Instructions for requesters
To make a request, remove any existing {{
copy edit}} tags from the article, then click this button and follow the instructions:
Manual instructions (if the button doesn't work)
To make a request, add your article, using the following format, to the bottom of this page:

Please remove any existing {{
copy edit}} tags from the article to avoid edit conflicts during the copy edit.
Please note:
No request by an unregistered editor will be accepted unless the IP has done significant work on the article. Drive-by IP requests already on the list may be declined by any editor.
The average waiting time is
two or so months. Please be patient and feel free to improve your requested article while you wait.
If you plan to nominate the article for
good article,
A-class or
featured article status, please wait until the copy edit is complete before nominating it.
Having your article copy edited by our team does not guarantee that the prose will be considered acceptable during any of the above reviews.
You may have up to two open requests at any one time. This is enforced so that every request can have a fair chance of being fulfilled within a reasonable period.
unstable, undergoing rapid development, the venue for an ongoing
edit war, or otherwise not yet suitable for copy editing.
Instructions for copy editors
Once you have accepted a request, it may be helpful to add a section to the article's Talk page explaining that you will be copy-editing the article and that other editors are welcome to post questions and comments for you while you are doing so. Remember to add another note when you are done.
Please ensure that you are familiar with the
Wikipedia Manual of Style and the expectations for editing for the GOCE outlined in our
Step by Step guide. The simplified Manual of Style is
here. A number of
national varieties of English are present throughout the encyclopedia, and no one variety is preferred. Keep
spelling and date formatting consistent within an article.
When you accept a request, place an indented {{
Working}} template immediately beneath the request and sign your post with four tildes (~~~~) so other copy editors know not to accept it.
Accept only one request at a time.
Articles that are potential
Featured Article candidates should be handled by experienced editors.
If you have accepted a request but cannot fulfill it for any reason, please amend it with either:
a note of the sections you have completed so someone else can complete the copy edit, or;
a suitable template: {{
Not done}}, {{
Partly done}}, or Abandoned (not a template!). Please make a good-faith effort to complete a copyedit; excessive use of the "Partly done" template does little (or nothing) to reduce the backlog.
If the article is unstable, experiencing rapid development, an ongoing
edit war or apparent
ownership issues, open a discussion on
Requests talk to inform project coordinators.
Acceptances that appear to have been abandoned will be checked after a reasonable period, usually one week after the timestamp. In cases of complete inactivity we will ask for an update on your talk page. If no response is received within one further week, the {{
Working}} template will be removed so other editors may complete the copy edit.
When you have completed a request, add the template {{
Done}} below the request and sign your post with four tildes (~~~~) and
a bot will archive it in about 24 hours. In limited circumstances (breakdowns etc.), you can add the details of the request to the
archive page then remove the request here by blanking the subsection. Do not delete the original request without archiving it.
Please consider adding the templates {{
GOCE|user={{subst:REVISIONUSER}}|date={{subst:date}}}} on the talk page of articles you have copy edited and {{
GOCEtb|article=Insert article name|sign=~~~~}} to the talk page of the requester.
Instructions for coordinators
Stale requests marked as "Working": Acceptances that appear to have been abandoned should be checked for activity after a reasonable period, usually one week after the timestamp. In cases of complete inactivity, a coordinator should ask for an update on the copy editor's talk page. Write "Asked X for update on talk page" below the "Working" line on the Requests page. If no response is received within one further week, the {{
Working}} template should be removed so that other editors may complete the copy edit.
Quality control: Articles from the Requests page that are completed by newer editors should be reviewed for quality by a coordinator, time permitting. The top priority is to review articles that are FA candidates; the second priority, GA and DYK candidates.
I'm currently working on a long overdue citation overhaul, but this thing could use a good deep cleaning too. Eventually I'd like to get it to GA (GAN), but we're a long way from that.

A lot of this does seem to be very lightly cited with sections probably uncited, which may make it a bit unstable for a copy edit @

Chaiten1 (

@
Chaiten1: Thanks. I don't like that this is not just a copy edit. You modify the words along the way according to your own feelings, but in the end, it no longer corresponds to what is said in the source. And you don't stop. I've been working on the article for a year and a half, and everything is very precise according to the sources. It has nothing to do with these two films but her recent career. It was correct. When you deleted "she subsequently", you changed the meaning of the sentence.
[1] It's irrelevant to cite The Apartment a second time in the lead and Sheitan, an irrelevant film which is not even mentioned in the body per
MOS:LEAD.
[2] A word written in the singular in the source becomes plural in the article with you. You change "comune's public space" into "comune's public spaces".
[3] Are you sure it was "due to her striking appearance"? Montanucci said in the source: "Everyone noticed her extraordinary and natural ability to stand out." That's why I wrote this, because it's the correct information.
[4] She wanted to become a lawyer; it is relevant, but you deleted the info. People can do different jobs with a law degree; it was correct to note that.
[5] Why are you writing this? Elite signed her to a contract from 1988 to 1989. She signed her employment contract with Elite between 1988 and 1989, the exact date is unknown.
[6] Why do you delete "private commission" even though it is sourced? "private commission and bearing her name" are the two pieces that make up the sentence.
[7] Also, modifications of
MOS:QUOTATIONS#Original wording.
[8] Also: "directde by". "Bellucci had never dreamed of being an actress" seems neither formal nor encyclopedic. You changed "Best Film Not in the English Language" to "best film not in the English language"; award categories are capitalized on featured articles.
[9] "and used her as inspiration for the character of Chantal." Not an "inspiration", it's pretty clear that he retained her ideas; the source states, She had known people like Chantal and had some great ideas about the character, so much so that I put them in the script.[10] This is no longer possible under these conditions, I will have to check everything now.

Thanks - and apologies for any inadvertent upset. My aim in copy-editing is to help shorten sentences, clarify meanings and above all to end up with a text that is accessible to a passing reader; there was no intent to aggravate. I'll step back from this article, and see if someone else can help.

Good evening! There is an autobiography tag on an article I’ve contributed to and I’d love for someone to make sure it’s not biased or written in an inappropriate way, and for someone to remove the tag when the article meets the standards applicable. I’ve declared the CoI already, but I’d like to go a step further and make sure fresh eyes check it.
Evanroden1 (
talk) 21:22, 26 March 2024 (UTC)reply
Hi @
Evanroden1:, I've checked the article; the autobiog template is appropriate. I've failed verification of some of the sources used here; the ones I've marked {{
not in source}} don't say what you say they say, and some are not
reliable, third-party sources; I've tagged appropriately. Some of the text is off-topic and may best be moved to talk or
Youth Coalition for Organ Donation. The rest should probably be stubified. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 00:44, 27 March 2024 (UTC)reply
Gotcha! I’ll check what I can to fix those. I brought this up not because the autobiog tag isn’t appropriate — it clearly is — but because I’m interested in a fresh set of eyes to see if it can ever be removed, assuming others end up editing it.
The first source does mention Evan (me); I’m included at 0:52 seconds in the video.
I changed the wording just now for the 42% claim to match the 37% mentioned in the source.
The sixth source should be fine I hope; the sentence says that I’m working to address concerns that people have had with opt-out donation, and it links to a page written by myself and Joel Giambra trying to do that (maybe not successfully, but that’s neither here nor there).
Source 10 should also be fine; it describes how 27 European nations have become opt-out, unless the issue is the lack of source for the Nova Scotia claim?
Evanroden1 (
talk) 01:17, 27 March 2024 (UTC)reply
Just went through and made some edits. I left a few of the “unreliable source” tags for if you or someone else can fix it, but I removed tags from things I fixed, and included my reasoning in the description of the change. Obviously I’ll defer to you if you think a tag still needs to be addressed and shouldn’t have been removed.
