The Nashville Sounds are a Minor League Baseball team that has played in Nashville, Tennessee, since 1978. They are named for the city's association with the music industry. The Sounds play their home games at First Horizon Park, which opened in 2015 and is located on the site of the historic Sulphur Dell ballpark. They previously played at Herschel Greer Stadium from its opening in 1978 until the end of the 2014 season. Established as an expansion team of the Double-A Southern League in 1978, the Sounds were replaced by a Triple-A American Association team in 1985. The Triple-A Sounds carried on the history of the Double-A team that preceded them. Nashville joined the Triple-A Pacific Coast League in 1998 and was placed in the Triple-A East in 2021, before it became the International League in 2022.
