The Feminist Collective of McGill University Law will be hosting their first Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon on November 16th 2015 from 16h30-19h30. Join us!
Join the Feminist Collective of McGill Law for an evening of learning, editing, hanging out, food, and fun!
Wikipedia is one of the top 10 most visited websites in the world, and the number 1 most visited encyclopedia, but over 80% of its editors are white and male. This means that there are systemic racial and gender biases reproduced in the published articles.
We want to address this by hosting a Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon where participants will learn how to edit and then be encouraged to add or edit an article. We have the power to shape knowledge, and fight systemic oppression!
There will be music, food, resources, and people to help you set up an account and start editing, as well as suggestions of places to start. Feel free to bring your own idea of an article you want to add or edit (you can even use this as a study opportunity! add or edit a case from your constitutional law class!).
16h30 - Welcome! Intro to editing.
17h30 - Welcome 1Ls! 2nd intro to editing.
