Comment I found a lot of coverage about him by pro-CHP/anti-AKP sources, mainly by
Sözcü:
[1],
[2],
[3],
[4],
[5],
[6],
[7],
[8]. 1 is about him standing up for a citizen who got a fine for a weird reason. 2 is about him announcing the minimum wage at the municipality. 3 is about him saying he is not going to resign (because he got COVID). 4, 5, 6 and 7 are mainly about him getting COVID and recovering from it. 8 is about him “getting in action” after warnings for upcoming heavy rain. I would consider these sources having a bit more neutral POV:
[9] and
[10], about him getting COVID. Most of the sources are heavily biased and can be seen as "propaganda" and are therefore not considered reliable. The 2 remaining sources are because he got COVID.
WP:POLOUTCOMES says "Mayors of cities of at least regional prominence have usually survived AFD", which is quite confusing, hence I’m not recording a vote. ~StyyxTalk? ^-^ 17:45, 29 December 2020 (UTC)reply
Comment I'm not sure how mayors are elected in Turkey, but it is obvious that he's not just merely a politician. He holds a public office, and like many other mayors influences the livelihood of the citizens. With that regard, he could actually be notable. Keivan.fTalk 23:18, 30 December 2020 (UTC)reply
Strong Keep It definitely passes NPOL. First, he is the mayor of
one of the biggest cities in Turkey, and it's a province-wide office because of the
establishment of metropolitan municipalities, which comprise the whole province. Second, he has a great coverage (at least in general media or local news) in addition to the sources that supplied by
Styyx, due to the projects that implemented or planned in his mayoralty. (

Keep He definitely passes NPOL on the basis of coverage in the Turkish national papers. See the
Hurriyet articles e.g.
[14]; and
Cumhuriyet similarly -
[15];
Sozcu has multiple articles e.g.
[16]. Granted, a lot of them are about Böcek's bout with the Coronavirus but he is clearly notable enough to generate many articles directly about him in the major national newspapers.
