This is where you can list ideas for new contests.
I personally hope that the next context will be a diagram contest (non-photographic illustrations for articles). Pleeeeease! :-) —

Best VfD save, i.e. fix an article that has been listed for deletion (by someone else) so that it is inconceivable that anyone would still want to see it deleted. —

I like this idea a lot. On any day we're pushing 50 VfD nominations, so over 3 weeks thats perhaps 1000 potential targets. Plenty of nominations are made because the article is so bad as to be percieved useless, or with supposedly no potential beyond a dicdef, or because the topic googles poorly.

Best translation of an article from another Wikipedia. English version should be non-existent or stub prior to the competition. —

I propose to transfer the contest temporarily to meta-wiki and award the best essay about wikipedia --

Good for a longer-term contest
How about a contest to remove articles from the "needs attention" list?
EagleFalconn 16:14, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
a contest for writing "missing" articles red-linked on at least five pages? (must have the red-links before the contest starts).

Best collaboration between three of more editors on a (?new) article. Or some other sort of collaboration. --
