Hello and welcome to WikiProject Women in Red (WiR) whose objective is to turn redlinks into blue ones. Our project's scope is women's biographies and women's works. Did you know that according to WHGI only 17.64% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women? Not impressed? Content gender gap is a form of systemic bias, and this is what WiR addresses. We invite you to participate whenever you like in whatever way suits you and your schedule. Women in Red warmly welcomes you!
Authority control should be included at the foot of every biography: {{Authority control}}. It will remain hidden until relevant identifiers have been added to Wikidata.
Choose applicable Categories including relevant subcategories of
Category:Women.
If applicable, add a stub template at the foot of an article:{{stub}}.
{{WikiProject Biography| }} or {{WikiProject Biography}}
{{WikiProject Women}} if born after 1950; or {{WikiProject Women's History}}:: if born before 1950.

In May 2018, Women in Red is focusing on women in
Central and Eastern Europe in support of CEE Spring. As the CEE Spring contest runs 21 March – 31 May, please feel free to add in the Outcomes section any CEE women articles created during this period. Anyone can take part in this event. We hope both inexperienced and seasoned editors will join us in creating biographies and other articles about women in all fields of interest in these countries, as well as their achievements, writings, organizations, and awards. This virtual editathon allows enthusiasts from around the globe to participate in our initiative. See below for lists of red-linked women in various CEE countries. You are of course also welcome to add articles on any other notable women who deserve to be covered.
The main goals of the event are:
to encourage inexperienced editors and show them how they can contribute to Wikipedia by creating biographies of some of the world's most prominent women
to draw the attention of more experienced editors to the need for concerted action on a specific area
to support Wikipedia in combating the systemic bias against the coverage of women and women's works
to promote the new/improved articles and images through social media (Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter)
What else?
Below, you'll see a section where you can list the articles you create this month, and another section where you can add the images you have uploaded to Commons.
If you tweet about any of the articles, or upload any of the images to Pinterest, please indicate you have done so next to the article name.
Thank you!
Redlists (lists of redlinked articles to be created)
The Wikimedia Meta page,
m:Wikimedia CEE Spring 2018/Article Lists, presents article lists for the countries and language communities of Central and Eastern Europe based on Wikidata. By clicking on each country, you can find a listing which includes prominent "Women". The names in black rather than blue are women who do not yet have biographies on the English Wikipedia. Basic Wikidata information and access to articles in other languages on these women can be found by clicking on the Q item in the Wikidata column.
In addition we have Wikidata red link lists on women from all the countries mentioned which can be found in the
Women in Red navbox. A selection of these is listed below.
