Volume 3, No. 2 — 3rd Quarter, 2010
Announcements
On the website
Metacritic all web pages except those from PS3, 360, Wii, DS, PSP, PC, or PS2 games were deleted. Users have been reminded to use
WebCite or similar web archiving utilities to backup their online sources, especially for the Featured Content.
Changes to {{
Cite video game }} were proposed but did not achieve consensus to change at that time.
Website
GameDaily merged into
Joystiq , meaning that many sources that linked to GameDaily may not work.
There was a consensus to maintain usage of "future video game" categories; games that have a confirmed full date of release are to be categorized under
Category:2010 video games , while those with less that (i.e. month or quarter only) are to be categorized under both
Category:Upcoming video games and
Category:Upcoming video games scheduled for 2010 . Those with unconfirmed release dates or no release dates are to be categorized under
Category:Upcoming video games .
Extensive discussion occurred regarding
Japanese video game romaji with no consensus established for any changes.
A series of concerns with possible
conflict of interest by
GameZone culminated with several users getting blocked as
sock puppets , as confirmed by a
CheckUser .
The
Pending Changes trial started in June 2010;
RuneScape was the very first article to be protected in the trial, with other articles such as
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King ,
Super Smash Bros. ,
Wii ,
Halo 3 ,
PlayStation 3 ,
Xbox 360 ,
Pokémon ,
Battletoads , and other high-priority video game articles also were protected at one point or another during the trial.
Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines was temporarily detagged from "guideline" status and then retagged.
{{
cite manual }} was proposed for deletion, but no consensus for deletion was achieved.
Category:Video games featuring female protagonists was proposed for deletion and was deleted per a rough consensus via
Categories for discussion .
This list of
video game-related biographies of living people (BLPs) were identified as unreferenced by
