This page contains a list of open tasks for the
Heraldry and Vexillology Wikiproject. If you want to help improve Wikipedia's coverage of heraldry and vexillology, pick a task from the list below. Feel free to add tasks to the appropriate sections, or discuss them on the
talk page.
Click on a red link above to create a new article. Click on a blue link for an existing article, which probably needs improvement. Edit the
template to add/remove countries.
Assessment
The quality of articles within the scope of the project can now be assessed by adding a class parameter to the {{WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology}} template on an article's talk page, e.g. {{WikiProject Heraldry and vexillology|class=stub}}. Rating articles in this way allows us to see what articles we need to focus on, and tracking the number of articles in different classes over time will gives us a quantitative measure of the improvement in Wikipedia's coverage of heraldry and vexillology. At the moment around 80 articles need to be assessed. See
the assessment department for more details.
Officers of Arms in the ODNB
The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography contains a large number of biographies of British
officers of arms. It would be good if we could get a decent article of each of these heralds. A list can be found
here. The ODNB article can obviously be used as a source, see the
ODNB website. Most public libraries in the UK and Ireland allow their members to access the ODNB website from home, see here for

Improving national flag pages
It would be useful to develop recommended guidelines for national flag pages (Flag of ... pages), including improving and promulgating the
Template:National flag infobox.
Tasks involving individual articles
Articles for creation
Add requests for heraldry- or vexillology-related articles which need to be created here.
Flag of Lemko-Rusyn Republic I found a link at worldstatesmen.com to an image for the flag. The flag looks plausible to me, but I do not know how to verify the accuracy or how to verify copyright status in order to add the image to the article. The complete link is under (discussion) in the article. Can anyone help? Similarly, need a two color Ukrainian flag for the
Komancza Republic article, and verification

Coat of arms of North Korea, The inscription of Coat of Arms of North Korea should be changed to '조선민주주의인민공화국' from '조선민조주믜인민공희국'.
Flag protocol - lacks references, needs clarification in many areas, may need to be rewritten almost entirely. It is my sense that this article could be nominated for AfD if not improved.
The
Environmental Science Services Administration article has a photo of a folded and wrinkled ESSA flag, but it would be improvement to have a clean image of the ESSA flag. The flag was in use by a major U.S. Government agency – the predecessor of today's National Oceanic and Atmopsheric Administration – from 1965 to 1970.
Tincture (heraldry)#Poetic representation — The page as a whole is good, it's just that this section seems like it was cut & pasted from a separate article and never integrated into the text of the whole. Since most of the problems include sourcing statements from heraldic history, I thought I would start here instead of the

The image of the flag of the United States Commissioner of Fisheries (see File:Flag of the United States Commissioner of Fisheries.svg) was flagged as a candidate to be copied to Wikimedia Commons long ago, but it never has been copied. Someone who knows how should copy it over.
w:File:Flag of the United States.svg needs color updated. The colors on the current file are based on a late 2000's modification of the white point of RGB values determined via a 1946 Military standard (per
Flag_of_the_United_States#Cable_colors_in_CIE). In 2012, the Department of State provided
definitive RGB value standards, cited in the main article. Multiple complaints have been made that the current colors render as an inaccurate purple-ish shade on most monitors, and multiple requests have been made to update to the new standard. Those with the power to change it have repeatedly refused. Many of those
disputes on the article talk page have been deleted (still available in history). Many remain on the
talk page of the Commons file.
