Join the USDA National Agricultural Library for a two-part event on the use of predictive microbiology in food safety. During the event, attendees will hear from Dr. Isabel Walls, Senior Public Health Advisor and Scientific Liaison at the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on the history, uses, and practice of predictive microbiology. Dr. Lihan Huang, Research Leader in Residue Chemistry and Predictive Microbiology will follow with current research and a demonstration of predictive modeling for managing food safety concerns. Following our keynote speakers, Dr. Dawanna James-Holly will offer an overview of predictive microbiology resources available from FSRIO/NAL, and Jana Caracciolo, JD, staff attorney at the National Agricultural Law Center will give an overview of legal policy concerning food safety and predictive microbiology.
During the second half of the program, attendees will have an opportunity to learn about Wikipedia and how to edit. New and experienced editors will then work together to write and edit articles about predictive microbiology, related topics, and pioneers in the field. Registration is required but attendees are free to come and go as they please.
Full day attendance is not required.
