Help:API and Wikipedia:API are appropriate redirects but H:API is not: plain {{ soft redirect}} is not used in the mainspace (see here; pseudo-namespaces are technically in the mainspace) and existing " H:" pages are generally (if not universally) pointed to local targets. —  Godsy ( TALK CONT) 21:58, 30 May 2018 (UTC) reply

A disambiguation page titled " Silence (film)", with a space before the parenthesis, already exists. — Hugh ( talk) 20:43, 30 May 2018 (UTC) reply

"Rock Juice" currently redirects to the band The Piper Downs because until 2012 the term was used for an album by that band. That album was deemed non-notable and the term was redirected to the band. Suggest that the term be redirected again to Rock Juice (Flamin' Groovies album), which has demonstrated notability. --- DOOMSDAYER520 ( Talk| Contribs) 16:53, 30 May 2018 (UTC) reply

  • Comment - If my suggestion is approved, the article for the Flamin' Groovies album could probably be moved to simply Rock Juice as well. --- DOOMSDAYER520 ( Talk| Contribs) 16:55, 30 May 2018 (UTC) reply

Not mentioned in target article. For this reason, without an explanation, this redirect seems like a neologism of some sort. Steel1943 ( talk) 23:29, 21 May 2018 (UTC) reply

  • Refine per AngusWOOF, given usage in printed sources like [1] [2]. I kinda think the relation between "currydon" and "karēdon" is already clear enough without the exact string "currydon" appearing there, since "curry" is explicitly mentioned, but I wouldn't object if someone added it. 59.149.124.29 ( talk) 11:32, 31 May 2018 (UTC) reply

Delete This article was created by a well known sockpuppeteer, Alma Fordy. It was created by this user who was blocked indefinitely for sockpuppetry. No sources available and no information about the article. Evil Idiot ( talk) 15:17, 22 May 2018 (UTC) reply

  • Delete and create retarget to Jas Mann who founded Indomina Group. This was a small distribution company [3] which closed in 2013. [4] AngusWOOF ( barksniff) 18:07, 24 May 2018 (UTC) reply
Changed above so that sockpuppeteer doesn't get credit for creating redirect, which went to the wrong spot anyway. AngusWOOF ( barksniff) 17:00, 1 June 2018 (UTC) reply

State broadcaster

The result of the discussion was retarget to State media. (non-admin closure) Galobtter ( pingó mió) 15:36, 7 June 2018 (UTC) reply

Currently, State broadcaster redirects to Public broadcasting. But shouldn't the former be distinguished from either 'public(-service) broadcasting' or 'public(-sector) broadcaster'?

I believe state broadcasters (like USSR's Gosteleradio, North Korea's KCBC, and Malaysia's RTM) are directly owned by the central government1) and don't have editorial freedom, while public-sector broadcasters (like the UK's BBC, and Japan's post-WW2 NHK), while established by relevant laws, are operated under a board independent from the government, and have their editorial independence guaranteed. (And public-service broadcasters, whether it is a public-sector or a private non-profit, do what commercial broadcasters don't even touch.)

1) Some of state broadcasters in some countries under dictatorship may take the form of 'board of directors' (like the BBC) to make them look like independent, but their boards are in fact useless, and don't have editorial freedom anyway.

If an article about 'broadcasters directly controlled by central government' can't be created immediately, couldn't State broadcaster be redirected to State media for now? JSH-alive/ talk/ cont/ mail 05:53, 30 May 2018 (UTC) reply
