  1. Why do you want to be a Wikipedia Ambassador?
I have been using Wikipedia for quite a while now, and feel that becoming an ambassador would be a great chance for me to assist other people, as well as provide a new type of challenge that I've been seeking on Wikipedia.
  2. In three sentences or less, summarize your involvement with Wikimedia projects.
I usually just Wikignome around EN-Wiki, just correcting things that need to be correcting, or formatting sections (ie, lists that should be tables), and similar contributions.
  3. Please indicate a few articles to which you have made significant content contributions. (e.g. DYK, GA, FA, major revisions/expansions/copyedits).
Nothing that has been raised to FA or GA or anything, although I have done a bit amount of work on Graphic display resolutions, Taboo (rapper) and Social Insurance Number.
  4. How have you been involved with welcoming and helping new users on Wikipedia?
I used to assist with including welcome templates on new users talk page, and helping them out if they needed some help, but this was a while ago.
  5. What do you see as the most important ways we could welcome newcomers or help new users become active contributors?
I believe that a great way would be to automatically include a welcome template on a user talk page when a user create an account. This would help them to figure out how to use Wikipedia quickly, and more efficiently; and increase the potential of new users to stay. I know that this is MediaWiki related, but its just my opinion.
  6. Have you had major conflicts with other editors? Blocks or bans? Involvement in arbitration? Feel free to offer context, if necessary.
I haven't had any major conflicts to report.
  7. How often do you edit Wikipedia and check in on ongoing discussions? Will you be available regularly for at least two hours per week, in your role as a mentor?
I check Wikipedia several times a day just to see if any major activity has occurred on my watchlist. I am able to assist almost anytime.
  8. What else should we know about you that is relevant to being a Wikipedia Ambassador?

I'm not sure you have enough experience with helping newcomers or with content building at this point. I'd suggest getting started as a Wiki Guide, which is a similar program where you can build mentoring skills and help newcomers with the basics.-- Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation ( talk) 17:05, 22 April 2011 (UTC) reply
