Grusinskaya, the dancer, portrayed by
Greta Garbo in
Grand Hotel, a 1932 American drama film directed by
Edmund Goulding, based on the 1930 play of the same title by
William A. Drake, who had adapted it from the 1929 novel Menschen im Hotel by
Vicki Baum, screen adaptation by William A. Drake and
Béla Balázs, starring Greta Garbo,
John Barrymore,
Joan Crawford,
Wallace Beery,
Lionel Barrymore,
Lewis Stone,
Jean Hersholt, music composed by
William Axt and
Charles Maxwell, cinematography by
William H. Daniels.
There was a controversy about this line because Greta said in a later interview that "[She] only said “I want to be let alone”. There is all the difference." But, she clearly says: "I want to be alone".

- I meant that policies and guidelines such as
WP:BOLD and
WP:IAR, which "give" editors expanded license, tend to be the "large print" on Wikipedia (what we advertise, e.g.
Wikipedia:Introduction#How you can contribute), whereas the "small print" (the more specific guidelines and policies) tend to restrict what editors can do (in part by proscribing certain behavior, and in part by indicating what editors should do). However, you seem to be correct that the connection is too obscure and/or convoluted. --

- Oppose - This reminds me of
truth by consensus and "
wikiality". :) Consensus, on Wikipedia, is not a scientific method of analysis, and it is too fluid and subjective to be reliable.
WP:VERIFIABILITY or
WP:NOR may be better links, in my opinion. --

- Hmm, that's true. I'm tempted to suggest
WP:TRUTH—based on the page's nutshell: "Your opinions are The Truth, and thus are unquestionably correct."—or
meta:MPOV as tongue-in-cheek replacements. :)
- I'm afraid I can't think of an alternative at the moment, so I'll have to revisit this later. --

- Oppose. This too reminds me of wikiality. Very truthy indeed ;) —

Edit 2. Rather than have it about articles, how about making it a metaphor for disputes? —

- On second though, this isn't scientific, and nothing is being analyzed. In my opinion, we shouldn't stray too far away from the actual quote, in most cases. ~~

Edit 1 + the following:
Σk=0 2−k∞
That eventually becomes 1 + 2 = 3. Heh. --
