Utah Wikimedians and friends are invited to attend WiknicSLC, the "picnic anyone can edit", in Salt Lake City as part of the Great North American Wiknic celebrations being held across the continent. We'll meet on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 12:00–2:00 pm or so (building closes at 5:00).
Bring your own sack lunch if you'd like an indoor picnic while we chat. Library policies state that shared food must be prepared in a licensed kitchen, so it's no home-cooked treats for us this year, unless your home contains a licensed cottage food establishment.
Street parking is free on Sundays, and the library's underground parking garage can be reached from eastbound 400 S or 500 S, which is a westbound one-way street. On 500 S, disregard the obsolete "Library Staff Entrance" sign, as almost all parking spaces are open to the public. Elevators and stairs from the garage emerge just east of the library entrance.
This event may just be the premiere of Wiknicking in Utah, but edits to refute this claim are welcome!
How's this? Feel free to edit agenda items:
Our WiknicSLC is open to the public and is subject to Wikimedia's General Friendly Space Policy for Wikimedia events to ensure that all are welcome and free from harassment. If issues arise, notify a Wikimedia volunteer such as KarenJoyce. At our venue, Salt Lake City Public Library often staffs a security/safety associate on the lower level where we are meeting, and any library employee will know how to obtain help.
You can use {{ Meetup/Utah/Wiknic2023/Invite}} to invite someone to the Wiknic. Just copy that text (including curly brackets) and paste it into a new topic on a talk page.
