I have removed the "fair use" and GFDL copyright tags from all 5 images on the James Joseph DeMartis page and replaced each one with the PD-self copyright tag. Please let me know if these images are ok now. Thanks, Leezk ( talk) 12:52, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

The "own work" claim seems fairly implausible. It is a crop from something and a part of the provided information refers to a poster. Probably a copyright violation but it has been here since 2012 so there will be a lot of propagation on the web. Sitush ( talk) 12:17, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- Agree with that. Although, a possible explanation is that the "creator" thought that cropping it and uploading it somehow made it there own work. It does not, but it's not an unlikely assumption for them to have mqade. Incidentally, I "closed" this by mistake, as the close button is right where the "edit" button usually is. This image is being used decorative in Troy Trojans men's basketball. The stated purpose in the non-free use rationale is for "visual identification of the object of the article", however that purpose is already being served better by File:Troy University logo.gif in the infobox so this use fails WP:NFCC#3a. The minimal use explanation is that the photo is being used to " show an image of the first-ever meeting between Troy and Duke" which sounds more like the purpose.
