Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
Mainly RC patrol and typo fixing (based on number of edits), although after an act of user page vandalism and hearing about the community's preference for "non-automated" edits, I am taking a break from automated tools. I have created the DYK-nominated article Cheater plug, and I salvaged Oliver OC-9 and NCAT Pavement Test Track. Those latter two, unfortunately, I am a limited position to improve since I do not have access to necessary sources.
  2. Have you been in any disputes over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
First, one contributor Jumamuba ( talk · contribs) added poorly-written text and copyrighted photos to the article Bogotá. The way Wikipedia process works makes it difficult to clean those up. Second, a couple editors objected to a specific semi-automated grammar correction that I had performed on approximately 300 articles. I believe in the forgive and forget principle, am open to suggestions, and do not believe that such behaviors as edit warring are proper or correct. Sometimes the best way to deal with disputes is to do nothing.
Can you provide an example or two of a dispute where you did nothing in this way? Peter 10:49, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Sorry I missed this one. It is hard to name one because I generally do not edit controversial subjects (other than in the areas of spelling correction, vandalism reversion, etc.). PleaseStand (talk) 00:07, 28 May 2010 (UTC) reply

I came across you at Biosafety cabinet (or rather, where it started in your userspace), where I thought 'good work' (just remember to create re-directs for terms in bold at the start of the article as they represent alternative article names). Your other article contributions seem fine as well. Looking at your userpage I thought, 'he's collected some of the more useful userscripts together to use'. Then I realised 'oh he actually created them', which is nice.

I also see good contributions to village pump and related discussion, and while neither I nor everyone responding may agree with everything you propose that's hardly a crime!

I haven't studied your vandalism reversions or deletion tagging very closely, but a quick sampling suggests they are appropriate.

Basically you seem to be doing a good job, I'm sure a closer look I could find a few niggles, but nothing stands out. I also generally get the impression you have the right attitude about things, so don't see any major problems coming up. I'd say continue doing good work, and keep gaining experience in different areas. Peter 10:49, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

I just asked a question on Help Desk and PleaseStand showed up quickly with the answer. I appreciate that he took the time to help me out. The Pebble Dare ( talk) 23:39, 27 May 2010 (UTC) reply
