GainLine

GainLine ( talk · contribs · count) Hi. I'm GainLine. I've been on Wikipedia for about a year, My initial start wasn't ideal as I responded to articles that I believed to be propaganda by people relating to an environmental campaign Shell to Sea by vandalising and making some dubious edits as user:mustycrusty, I attempted to reboot as user:Greenlightgo but was unaware of sockpuppetry. I rebooted using correct protocol (made a declaration on my userpage) and have been working on Irish Rugby and Ireland related articles but have recently been drawn back into articles related to Shell to Sea. This time round I have taken things a lot more seriously but have been meeting conflict in this and am now seeking a review of my actions. I want to satisfy myself that my actions are okay or if they aren't, how I may go about improving my approach. GainLine 23:29, 10 August 2009 (UTC) reply

Reviews

  • As per count, you average roughly 100 edits per month. At under 1000 edits, its a bit difficult to judge, but so far you've been a fair contributor. You leave comments for all your edits;which is good. You've patrolled a few articles. I see you've only created one article so far...have you considered creating more? From what I see, you're the basic begining wikipedian, a casual person who edits an article or two that they have an interest in, and that's fine. Keep up the great work! Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
Answer to question 1: I've worked on Irish rugby related articles and have been please with Tommy Bowe, Alan Quinlan, Rory Best as well as a rework of Garda Public Order Unit and the creation of Garda Mounted Unit. I feel I have improved these articles by improvement of content and or bringing better structure
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Answer to question 2: There is a suite of articles affected by S2S(see [1] for full list) and I have been trying to work towards cleaning them up after a failed mediation case, another editor didn't engage fully. I asked editors User:SteveCrossin and User:Seddon to look in on my work here. I have attempted to engage on discussion pages and used edit summaries to explain actions. I am meeting confrontation from this user User:Lapsed Pacifist who has a WP:COI,involved in campaign including; personal attacks in edit summaries, on my talk page and on discussion pages of articles involved. This is now coming to a head as it is extremely disruptive. Things have also become heated here: [2]
