Nominator's rationale: merge, redundant category layer with only one subcategory. Marcocapelle ( talk) 21:10, 19 January 2023 (UTC) reply
  • Support — while there is a well developed literature tree, it doesn't make sense to add it as a layer without substantial articles.

Nominator's rationale: The PD Canada category was made in 2014 while the Canadian public domain photographs category was made in 2005. As both categories refer to photos that are in the public domain for Canada, I think the files in the PD Canada category should be redirected to Canadian public domain photographs instead. The PD Canada category could become a redirect too as I see similar names at Category:Public domain images by country like PD Syria‎. MrLinkinPark333 ( talk) 00:53, 11 January 2023 (UTC) reply

Nominator's rationale: I'm not sure about this category. The two subcategories are in Category:Public domain images by country. On Commons, there is Commons:Category:PD-New Zealand and Commons:Category:PD-South Korea for PD images that originated in those countries. If this category is for works that are public domain only in their source country and not in the United States, there's Category:PD-NZ images with URAA-restored copyright‎ and Category:PD-South Korea images with URAA-restored copyright‎ on English Wikipedia. The URAA categories flag images that cannot be moved as they need to be PD in both the source country and United States on Commons. Therefore, I'm not certain why only New Zealand and South Korea images are in this category. MrLinkinPark333 ( talk) 01:21, 11 January 2023 (UTC) reply

  • Support per WP:OVERLAPCAT, the subcategories are part of Category:Public domain images by country which seems to suffice. There aren't any instructions on the nature of restrictions. Marcocapelle ( talk) 12:27, 20 January 2023 (UTC) reply
  • Support — the instructions seem to be "don't move to commons", same as parent restrictions. But that's a good idea in any case. I'm personally tired of so many illustrations disappearing on articles after moving to commons. Different countries have different laws. Live with it.

  • Support: It's logical to merge them. Is there any particular reason for keeping the "Works of..." category rather than the "Dio Chrysostom" category? I don't mind either way, but just ask so that I know for future. Furius ( talk) 22:46, 19 January 2023 (UTC) reply
  • A works category is preferred because then the content can also be found easily in the works tree. Marcocapelle ( talk) 07:42, 20 January 2023 (UTC) reply

Nominator's rationale: Same rationale as here and below. City or town should be renamed to populated place to include CDPs, townships, etc. – Aidan721 ( talk) 17:58, 19 January 2023 (UTC) reply
  • The sub-cats of Category:Education in the United States by city or town by state mostly use "by city". There is some sense to restricting these and the other hierarchies nominated below using "by city", as places smaller than cities will generally not have enough content to justify a separate category. Or would that work wrongly in the context of the American meaning of "city"? – Fayenatic London 16:32, 23 January 2023 (UTC) reply
    • The subcats would also be nominated to be renamed following this discussion. Didn't want to nominate too many at once. There are places within this scope that are not recognized as cities (they are towns, townships, etc.) that if not renamed should be removed from this hierarchy structure. Education is not defined by whether the place is a town or city. – Aidan721 ( talk) 19:46, 23 January 2023 (UTC) reply
  • Speedy rename — this guideline has been repeatedly affirmed, can be taken to speedy.
