The result of the discussion was: merge. Per Marcocapelle, the category can be recreated if more articles are written. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkl talk 17:49, 2 October 2022 (UTC) reply
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OVERLAPCAT and WP:SMALLCAT, this category has only two subjects and will not get more for the foreseeable future, and its scope is entirely covered by the broader category, which itself has only two subjects currently. Also, no corresponding category exists for the craters of Phobos. Devonian Wombat ( talk) 22:43, 24 September 2022 (UTC) reply
Keep the category does not overlap with anything. A separate category for Phobos could be created. And I disagree with WP:SMALLCAT anyway. A category with two members if fine. And there are prospects for further naming of craters and writing of articles in decades to come. Graeme Bartlett ( talk) 03:28, 25 September 2022 (UTC) reply
Comment Phobos has seventeen named craters, so a separate category for it could indeed be created (if those craters ever receive articles). Deimos has only two named craters at the present time (although there are more unnamed craters), so there is limited space to grow at this time. Perhaps the smallcat can be justified by general utility? Furius ( talk) 11:40, 25 September 2022 (UTC) reply
  • Merge in the spirit of WP:SOFTDELETE with no objection to recreate the category when some more articles have been written. Currently it is an almost empty category layer, not contributing to easy navigation. Marcocapelle ( talk) 16:15, 25 September 2022 (UTC) reply
  • Note: the two member articles are already held directly in the other parent Category:Deimos (moon), so a single merge would suffice. – Fayenatic London 14:43, 26 September 2022 (UTC) reply

Category:Gender reveal wildfires

The result of the discussion was: delete. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkl talk 17:52, 2 October 2022 (UTC) reply
Nominator's rationale: 2-article category, likely WP:SMALLCAT, with a politcal motive regarding gender reveal parties. – LaundryPizza03 ( d ) 22:20, 24 September 2022 (UTC) reply
  • Keep. WP:SMALLCAT only disallows categories that are structurally impossible to grow. That's not the case here; future gender reveal wildfires are possible and arguably not unlikely. No explanation of the alleged political motive or how it would counterindicate this category. DefaultFree ( talk) 00:52, 25 September 2022 (UTC) reply
  • Delete, very indirect relationship between a natural disaster and the reason for a party. I can't see a political motive in this, but even if there is politics involved that is not relevant. Marcocapelle ( talk) 02:18, 25 September 2022 (UTC) reply
  • Delete wildfires can be caused by a wide variety of things, such as barbeques, fireworks, cigarette buts, campfires, overheated car batteries etc. There is not reason why gender reveal parties are more notable as the cause. Plus this category is part of Category:Gender-related violence which is nonsensical, there is nothing inherently violent about parties that accidently caused fires. Inter&anthro ( talk) 03:44, 25 September 2022 (UTC) reply
For comparison, speaking to the fireworks example, Category:Building and structure fires started by pyrotechnics exists. Wildfires are violent events. If this is inaccurate, that would be reason to reparent the category, not delete it. DefaultFree ( talk) 09:05, 25 September 2022 (UTC) reply
  • Delete. The appropriate location for this info is on the gender reveal parties article (where it is indeed found). That said, we do also have Category:Wildfires caused by arson, so perhaps this small cat could be merged into something like Category:Wildfires caused by accident. Anyway, the current title suggests that these were wildfires which somehow revealed the baby's gender (by the colour of their smoke? the shape of the area that they destroyed? whether the dollar-value of their damage was an even or an odd number?), which isn't quite right. The result of the discussion was: rename. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkl talk 17:54, 2 October 2022 (UTC) reply
Nominator's rationale: "People" is too vague to be useful in applying the category only where it satisfies WP:DEFINING. There has been a long-term WP:NPOV problem growing out of the fact that PETA uses trivial endorsements by celebrities as a way of promoting itself, and editors inappropriately apply related categories to celebrity pages in a manner that pushes that POV. There was an earlier, related CfD discussion of this at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2017 April 4#Category:Animal rights advocates. Recently, I removed the BLP of a fashion model from this category, where the category had been applied simply because she once posed nude for a PETA advertisement (having appeared in countless other ads as well, none of which generated categories). I've pruned the current category membership to people who have actually held positions in the PETA organization, which is an appropriate use for the category. The proposed rename from "people" to "personnel" (or perhaps something equivalent) would make it clearer what the category is really for. -- Tryptofish ( talk) 18:45, 24 September 2022 (UTC) reply
  • Support Only key people need to be in the category, having just "people" could mean anyone associated with the group which is not WP:DEFINING, "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals personnel" is more specific. Psychologist Guy ( talk) 20:03, 24 September 2022 (UTC) reply

Nominator's rationale: Your reasons. The Thari and Dhatki people are the same and is even written on Thari people, merge to Category:Thari people.
  • Delete both, nothing is mentioned about it in the articles, let alone sourced. I will tag the target too. Marcocapelle ( talk) 17:54, 8 September 2022 (UTC) reply
  • Merge per nom and make Thari people the main article of the target. This seems to be an ethnic group, whose language is Dhatki language (which might appear in the headnote as a "see also" item). The subject needs to become a cat-redirect to discourage re-creation. Peterkingiron ( talk) 18:56, 11 September 2022 (UTC) reply

Nominator's rationale: merge, the Ayyubid Sultanate ceased to exist halfway the 13th century. The article in the category is about Abulfeda, a later Ayyubid ruler of the city state of Hama, who happened to be a historian as well. Marcocapelle ( talk) 09:56, 24 September 2022 (UTC) reply
