Nominator's rationale: Way too specific of a category; one who's members all fit
Category:Percussionists already. No one in the world classifies themselves as a "gong player".
Why? I Ask (
talk) 20:59, 21 September 2022 (UTC)reply
Delete. Some e.g.
Airto Moreira#Instruments list various percussion instruments that they have played, but they do not need to be categorised by each of them – indeed, that would be
WP:OCAT. Most do not mention gongs in the article, so playing gongs is not
WP:DEFINING. All have better categories as percussionists, so no merge is needed.
Category:Triangle players must be similarly undeserving of a category;
nominator, do you want to add it to this nomination? –
FayenaticLondon 21:34, 22 September 2022 (UTC)reply
I have removed that listing from Moreira. If you're a percussionist, it's expected that you will play common percussion, so the list means nothing. (All other pages should follow suit if they have that). For whatever reason, I wouldn't doubt someone would want to keep the triangle category, so I'll make that a separate discussion. There are some categories that could potentially be added though, if you look at the subcats for
Category:Percussionists (e.g., glockenspiel players, güira players, güiro players, tubular bells players). I do think a case could be made for keeping castanets and tambourine, and maracas, though.

I have never seen a güirero playing tambora or congas. --

Half the people in the category are known best for playing congas.

Nominator's rationale: "End of World Music" is not a widely recognized music genre and the term does not appear in the articles for the artists in this category. The common element of these artists is that most (not all, see
Raven Chacon) are signed to the
Stone Tapes label or its parent label
Joyful Noise Recordings. Alternatives to deletion would be to create
Category:Stone Tapes artists and selectively add artists there or delete and use only
Category:Joyful Noise Recordings artists where it's relevant.

Support Deleting: Looking up "End of World Music" on Google only brought up this category. I'm fairly certain it's not a suitable category.
Why? I Ask (
talk) 23:56, 21 September 2022 (UTC)reply
Support deletion, I can only find a few mentions online of "end of
world music"; this categorization might refer to that, or to "
end of world music". Either way, none of the articles mentions it, and per nomination it's not a widely recognised musical genre.

Nominator's rationale: What is this category for??? Madura is an island, not any other administrative division (not a province or otherwise). We already have
Category:Madura Island, so this category is not needed as far as I can tell and can be redirected, just like at
Commons. P 1 9 9✉ 14:54, 13 September 2022 (UTC)reply
Merge and redirect. Good catch! This is categorised in Provinces of Indonesia, but is not one. I have added its sub-cats to the nomination. –

@
GiantSnowman: it currently contains a team, their logo file, a stadium, and a sub-cat for players of a different team (which has its own category,
Madura United F.C.). If the sub-cat was for players of this team I would have ignored it, but I don't see that a category is justified for 2 articles and 1 image file. –
FayenaticLondon 13:10, 21 September 2022 (UTC)reply
Comment -- I note that
Madura is a redirect to
Madura Island, but that article frequently refers to it merely as Madura. Is there a case for renaming the article and reverse merging?
Peterkingiron (
talk) 12:04, 16 September 2022 (UTC)reply
Not opposed to reverse merging, if that makes the most sense. But if there is no strong reason for it, then it will be better that the categories match the article naming conventions. -- P 1 9 9✉ 15:11, 16 September 2022 (UTC)reply

Nominator's rationale:delete, trivial intersection between a period in history and the fact that these countries no longer exist.
Marcocapelle (

Delete: countries don't belong to wars, so this doesn't make sense.

Nominator's rationale: Only contains two articles. If not merged, the first one should be renamed to Seljuk people stubs (or perhaps Seljuk Empire people stubs), following the pattern for former countries in
[1]. –

Nominator's rationale:upmerge, redundant category layer with only one subcategory. Note: the first target has been nominated for renaming to
Category:Jews from the Ottoman Empire.
