Nominator's rationale: Emlyon Business School. Confirmed by the school's website. Fuddle ( talk) 23:06, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Comment -- I am not sure the nom (and main article) are right. EM appears to stand for Early Maker and Lyon (eng. Lyons) is a French city, where it was founded. The logo puts em and lton on separate lines, so that it may not be one word. I not the web address is em-lyon, not emlyon, I suspect it is the main article that needs renaming! Peterkingiron ( talk) 17:53, 5 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Oppose per @ Peterkingiron. The French-language article is at fr:EM Lyon Business School, and the en.wp article should be renamed to match. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 09:40, 13 July 2020 (UTC) reply

Propose merging:
2-page category
3-page categories
Nominator's rationale: per WP:SMALLCAT. Each of these categories for a small place in the North Burnett Region of Queensland are are tiny, with little chance of expansion. They all currently contain 2 or 3 pages: the head article plus one or two others. I haven't found any other articles to expand the categories.
As with many New South Wales locations, category creation seems to have been a bit indiscriminate. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 21:57, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply

Nominator's rationale: merge, completely unrelated to the Kings of the Romans in the Holy Roman Empire starting in the 10th century. This is a matter of WP:SHAREDNAME. Marcocapelle ( talk) 20:26, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • It is apparent from the main article that it is a case of WP:SHAREDNAME, the article even starts with "This article is about the title in the Holy Roman Empire.". Moreover the 5th-century Roman king title of Syagrius is controversial and the common name of that kingdom is Kingdom of Soissons. Marcocapelle ( talk) 07:53, 4 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • By convention of later historiography. The article notes that contemporary accounts mentions it as "Kingdom of the Romans". Dimadick ( talk) 11:10, 4 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Yes, again, that is a matter of WP:SHAREDNAME. There is a gap of 500 years and neither the territory nor the circumstances are similar in any way. Marcocapelle ( talk) 12:08, 4 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Delete. Single-article category that is impossible to expand. DrKay ( talk) 08:38, 4 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Delete -- No need to merge as the one person is in target already. He was a Roman and a king in part of Gaul as the Roman Empire collapsed, but there is no scope for populating such a category better. Peterkingiron ( talk) 17:57, 5 July 2020 (UTC) reply

Category:Hoaxes by year

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: keep. bibliomaniac 1 5 06:08, 13 July 2020 (UTC) reply
Nominator's rationale: We have Category:Hoaxes by century. If we are going to split up modern hoaxes into subcategories, those should be arranged under Category:20th-century hoaxes and Category:21st-century hoaxes. I propose deleting at least one of the two categories above, either leaving the by-year categories directly under the century categories, or dividing the last two century categories up into by-decade subcategories with the by-year categories under them. Srleffler ( talk) 17:37, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Strong oppose. These are container categories, which should exist so long as there are categories to populate them.
If Srleffler wants to delete or merge any of the by-year or-by-decade categories, they should nominate each of the relevant categories. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 18:49, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Not so, @ Srleffler. The current organisation makes sense. Your proposal would remove that sense.
There are thousands of foo-by-year container categories, and no reason why this set should be the exception.
Hundreds of topics have by-year, by-decade, and by-century categories as siblings. Sometimes in topic category, sometimes grouped in a top-by-time category.
Given that your ideas of organising the categories breach convention and logic, it would be much more helpful if you would refrain from any "fix". -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 19:41, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Delete any or all of these - a category scheme gone mad. But as Bhg says, we should start from the bottom & work up. Like most "by year" categories, these just serve to make finding things more difficult rather than easier. You won't find anything unless you know the exact year or are prepared to try several. I'm almost always ready to support deletion of very thinly-populated "by year" schemes btw, just give me a ping. Johnbod ( talk) 19:19, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • I did not propose deletion of the individual by-year categories, but I'm open to that. They are very thinly populated, and as you say they just make finding things more difficult.-- Srleffler ( talk) 19:31, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Johnbod, there may be a case for deleting the "YYYY hoaxes" categories, but this nomination won't delete any of them. It will just make them harder to find, by deleting their container category. Please review your support for this nomination, because this ill-conceived proposal will make the "YYYY hoaxes" categories harder to navigate if kept, and also harder to find if anyone wants to delete them. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 19:45, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
(to both) - yes you should definitely nom the "by year" categories. Johnbod ( talk) 21:03, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Cleanup. I just did a a few AWB runs through these by-year and by-decade hoax categories. All are now correctly parented, and all have 2-layer navigation bars, using {{ Navseasoncats with decades below year}} or {{ Navseasoncats with centuries below decade}}.
(BTW I screwed up a few edit summaries along the way. Sorry about that). -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 20:08, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Close and start fresh other nomination, the intention behind this nomination is good but the execution of the nomination misses the point, per above comments. Marcocapelle ( talk) 21:11, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
    • @ Marcocapelle, the intention behind this nomination has been fulfilled. The nominator's goals was that the "YYYY hoaxes" and "YYY0s hoaxes" should be arranged under Category:20th-century hoaxes and Category:21st-century hoaxes. My AWB run has done that. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 22:04, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Oppose The current format makes navigation much easier than a century category on its own. Dimadick ( talk) 07:34, 4 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Oppose - the set-up is exactly as it should be. Oculi ( talk) 08:06, 4 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Alternative solution -- For most years before 2000 there are not enough articles for viable annual categories. These should be merged into Category:Hoaxes in 1980s etc. We should thus keep Category:Hoaxes by decade and delete "hoaxes by year" and "hoaxes by century". Peterkingiron ( talk) 18:10, 5 July 2020 (UTC) reply
    • @ Peterkingiron, that would require a new nomination. None of the "YYYY hoaxes" categories are listed in this nomination. This is just a perverse proposal to remove their container category. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 15:52, 7 July 2020 (UTC) reply
  • Oppose hoaxes occur, and like things that occur we sort them by year and decade, etc. Carlossuarez46 ( talk) 20:33, 7 July 2020 (UTC) reply

BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 05:17, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
PS If this category is kept, then the hierarchy should be inverted. Category:Uranium mining in Western Australia should be a subcat of this one, not a parent. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 05:18, 3 July 2020 (UTC) reply
