Nominator's rationale:delete per
WP:NONDEF, these are merely subsidiary titles of the crown princes and crown princesses of Aragon and Spain respectively. This is follow-up on
this earlier discussion.

Delete leads to overcategorization. Lists may work, but not clutter causing categories.

Oppose Most subsidiary titles have had their own histories and users.

Not any of these ones, the titles were specifically created by
Peter IV of Aragon for crown princes.
Marcocapelle (

Delete -- Categorising subsidiary titles does not help: it is a waste of space. If the titles did have a separate earlier history, the appropriate course would be to purge the people using the subsidiary title replacing it with a subcat or a see also item.

Category:Heads of universities and colleges. There is a rough consensus for merging/deleting this category, especially when considering the outcome of related discussions. There was also an alternative proposal to repurpose the category, however this did not reach a consensus. If a category for executive/ceremonial roles is desired please start another discussion.

Nominator's rationale: Essentially a subcategory of
Category:Heads of universities and colleges, but an intermediate category based on title isnt helpful. We dont have similar categories for Rectors, Provosts etc. and its hard to see why anyone would want them.
Rathfelder (
talk) 14:15, 9 September 2019 (UTC)reply
Oppose - It makes sense to me to keep an intermediate level under
Category:Heads of universities and colleges by actual title, as Vice-chancellors categories actually seem to be restricted to actual vice-chancellors (while university chancellor or president categories are currently catch-all of any leadership office). It is a legitimate subcategory of
Vice offices. Also note that this was discussed in
CfD.
Place Clichy (
talk) 10:09, 13 September 2019 (UTC)reply
There are large numbers of categories of articles about posts similar to Vice-chancellors but with other titles - Rector, President, Provost etc. It doesnt make sense to categorise them by title.
Rathfelder (
talk) 20:12, 13 September 2019 (UTC)reply
Merge to
Category:Heads of universities and colleges. Just to make things fun, if I understand everything right, there are some United States universities that have a chancellor whose position is the same as a vice chancellor in other places. We categorize by shared thing, not shared name.

Comment, merging is for the larger part unnecessary, because the country subcats are already contained in the continent categories within the tree of
Category:Heads of universities and colleges. The only exception, as noted before, is the West Indies subcat.
Marcocapelle (
talk) 13:26, 21 September 2019 (UTC)reply
Delete as opposed to the heads of cat, this ends up being a categorization by shared name.
John Pack Lambert (
talk) 06:31, 22 September 2019 (UTC)reply
Comment -- In UK and many Commonwealth countries the Vice-Chancellor is the executive head of the university, but there is also a Chancellor who is a non-executive ceremonial head, who in some cases (having political influence) may be able to support the university. In other cases the Chancellor may purely have a titlular role. On reflection I would prefer a rename to
Category:Executive heads of universities and colleges. This may mean that
Category:Heads of universities and colleges needs purging into that one.
Peterkingiron (
talk) 17:32, 22 September 2019 (UTC)reply
Comment -- I would suggest keeping a subcategory for ceremonial chancellors within
Category:Heads of universities and colleges, but I don't think vice chancellors are distinctive enough to need their own category.
