"Spectral purity" is not at all a well-defined concept, and certainly not as defined here. ${\displaystyle {\frac {\triangle v}{v}}}$ is not 'particularly important', in fact it is close to meaningless. Physicists use linewidth ${\displaystyle \triangle v}$ instead, which is much more useful.

• Keep - it's a real thing in both signal processing and lasers. However, since I can't find a source for that formula, I'm deleting it.
